It may be December already, but no need to panic. We’ve got your pressies sorted, including some for yourself since you’re being such a nice person and thinking ahead and all. Plus if you’re one of those people who actually want to embrace Christmas like one of Nanna’s hugs, these awesome things to do in Sydney will get you right into the spirit of things.
Decadent December kicks off at The Tea Room
The Tea Room at the Queen Victoria Building is taking all of the stress out of Christmas shopping this December with a festive menu that’ll recharge you for round two of gift buying and top up your festive cheer. To the soundtrack of live carollers, you can lap up the Christmas menu, which includes grilled yamba prawns, roast turkey and red currant tart. It can be pretty daunting choosing a flavour from the extensive tea menu, so why not buy a special blend to take home to enjoy or gift this holiday season? Permission to spoil yourself rotten, granted. Call to book you (and a lucky friend) in for some pampering.

Good Lord! It’s Christmas! A Nativity Pantomime
Some of Sydney’s great comedy minds are getting in the Christmas spirit to resurrect the lost art of pantomime. Creators Nicholas McDougall (Plonk, The Feed) and Veronica Milsom (triple j Drive host, ABC TV’s Mad as Hell) have assembled a motley crew of recognizable faces to play characters from the nativity scene and poke sizeable holes in the plot of Christianity’s foundational Christmas story. In the full spirit of pantomime, musicians Kristy Lee Peters (Triple J house party, KLP) and Jim Finn (Art vs. Science, Vydamo) have composed some festive bangerz to sing and dance to. In true celebration of Christmas, all proceeds will go to charity. Buy tickets here.
When: Tuesday 8th, Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th of December
Where: Giant Dwarf Theatre, 199 Cleveland Street, Redfern
