This weekend is the perfect time to drag your friends out for a cocktail date. Whether martinis are your drink of choice, or you prefer something a little on the sweet side, here are five cocktails in Sydney to get you (and your weekend) started in style. Cheers!

Cocktail No. 1 At Woolwich Pier Hotel

This one is for all the whisky drinkers out there. First on this list (primarily due to its name), Cocktail No. 1 combines Jameson Irish Whisky, pear liqueur lemon and mint muddled with sugar and served over ice. It’s a variation on the traditional summer mojito and might even convert a few people to the dark side.

Shanghai Sour At New Shanghai

The new cocktail menu at New Shanghai was created by incredible mixologist, Michael Chiem (of Sydney bar, PS40) and inspired by Shanghai, so it’s bound to be good. A twist on the classic, the Shanghai Sour features a combo of Cognac, plum wine, lemon and an egg white froth garnished with Chinese Five Spice. The perfect accompaniment to eating your weight in hand made dumplings.

Build Your Own Martini At The Woollahra Hotel

The Woollahra Hotel are putting your cocktail experience back into your hands with their brand new build your own martini menu. First you must make the biggest decision of the night... Gin or vodka? French or Italian vermouth? To garnish or not to garnish? Finally, how do you want it—dry, dirty or perhaps with an absinthe rinse? If it’s all too much for you, choose from the Bartender selection, you can’t go wrong.

The Watermelon Margarita At Los Vida

Margaritas are always a good idea and the salted watermelon margarita from Mexican joint, Los Vida, is the ideal way to imagine you're back in the good ol’ days of summer. The perfect combination of salty and sweet, pair your margarita with something spicy from the Los Vida menu (tacos, anyone?) for a real fiesta.

A Versailles Experience At Eau De Vie

Served out of an Absinthe fountain that we’re like 90% sure came straight out of Marie Antoinette's own collection, this cocktail is made to share. Gin, absinthe, lemon juice, pear puree, mint and apple make for a refreshing cocktail that is 100% Gram-worthy and is all yours on tap.
