MCA ARTBAR Party Curated by ALASKA Projects

By Ellie Schneider
24th Oct 2013

As part of the MCA ARTBAR series, ALASKA Projects is hosting a Halloween extravaganza like none other.

Inspired by the formative late 70s New York public access television series TV Party, the ALASKA team has created a world populated with zombies, Warhol-esque fit outs, TV static and dancing girls.

Guests can expect all the usual key components of the ARTBAR series, like lectures, screenings, bands and live performances—but with a frightening edge.

Magical highlights for the night include: joining artists Rochelle Hayley and Monika Behrens to design your very own magical love potion; photographer Samuel Hodge delivering a slideshow of his recent European sojourn; Dr Oliver Watts presenting a lecture on lecture theatres, whilst fellow academic Dr Alex Munt will perform a love letter to actress Edie Sedgwick.

ALASKA's in-house orchestra Musical Alaska will perform in the Primavera Galleries, while the main stage will see a line-up of Tom Smith, Golden Blonde and Yoke. A selection of DJs and makeshift artists' studios will emerge on the Sculpture Terrace.

Guests are invited to dress up, and let loose for one hell of a party.
