Listen Up, ‘90s Kids | An OTT Nostalgic Pop-Up Is Headed To Sydney

Time to whip out your Tamagotchis and Doodle Bears, ‘coz your local Westfield is getting a kaleidoscopic, fun-filled pop-up made for kidults – and it will leave you asking: Is this real life?!

Spread across 14 Westfields (in just NSW alone!) over one epic weekend, Taste. Shop. Play. is a sure-fire antidote to a dull weekend. Celebrating all things spring, the pop up will deliver an unforgettable experience with OTT activities and nostalgic noms. From hula hoop stations to glitter braid bars (hell yes!), prepare yourself for an extraordinary blast-from-the-past experience that’ll teleport you straight back to the good ol’ days, when your biggest responsibility was gettin' your pen licence.

Here’s what you can expect at the Taste. Shop. Play. pop-up - Velcro wallet at the ready.

Kidult haven

Okay look, we don’t want to alarm anyone but Westfield Liverpool is getting an awesome AF adult ball pit and Westfield Burwood will be home to a GIANT sprinkle pit (if this is a dream we don’t want to wake up). Meanwhile, over at Westfield Warringah Mall, you can hit up a roller-skating disco rink (*squeals*), and at Westfield Woden you can spend your day dominating the playground with life-size Jenga and Connect Four. I mean, is a ‘90s playground reeeallly complete without life-size Jenga and Connect Four? We think not.

There are legit prizes to be won too. Westfield Hurstville has a Ferrero Rocher candy wall where you can rake in the gift cards, while Westfield Burwood has a ‘Taste The Flavour’ blind tasting experience, where if you guess the correct flavours you win (we were born ready). AND when you spend over $250 in Westfield Bondi Junction you will qualify to play the GIANT Gum Ball machine (located on Level 3 near Sephora), for the chance to win anything from Prema Blow Dry vouchers to a $500 Gucci gift voucher.

Nostaligic noms

Put it this way, there’s A LOT to choose from, so it’s safe to say, you won’t go hungry. From fluffy fairy floss and drool-worthy ice cream to delectable doughnut walls and dessert bars, there'll be plenty of sugary stalls to satisfy your sweet tooth across the participating Westfield centres. But if you’re like us, and savoury floats your boat, then the Criniti’s pizza making workshop at Westfield Kotara or the pasta workshops at Westfield Penrith are definitely worth a squiz (and a sample).

Bottoms up

There’ll be several pop up wine bars across the centres so what better way to shop and celebrate spring than with a tasty tipple?! (Hear! Hear!) The only issue being, there’s too many to choose from! We’ll be sharing our time between Westfield Warringah Mall’s complimentary gin tastings and cocktail masterclasses (we can do both, yeah?). But considering it’s over an entire weekend, we’re thinking we’ll hit up Westfield Parramatta’s frosé and 6ft6 wine bar ('tis the weekend, after all). Oh, but don't forget to line those stomachs at the Hawker Lane $2 Food Trail at Westfield Chatswood. $2!? We'll take one of everything.

Strike a pose

It wouldn’t be a Westfield event without farshurrrn, darling. From spring fashion runways to styling sessions, there'll be loads to love - and discounts to boot! Treat yo'self like a qween at Westfield Miranda with its beauty hub and nail bar (while soakin' up some live music, of course), or if '90s grunge is your game (Courtney Love eat your heart out), then hit up Westfield Sydney 'coz tattoo trailblazer Lauren Winzer (she tattoos Miley Cyrus!!) will be inking people, for real, at the Dr Martens activation. If you've been wanting that little '90s throwback tatt - the time is now!

To quote the greatest ‘90s band of all time: Say you’ll be there?
