Well Christmas just came early with the announcement that The Newport will launch late January 2016. After undergoing an extensive redevelopment it may not be The Newport you remember, but we think you’re going to absolutely love it.
For starters, the surrounds are as gorgeous as its Pittwater views with an eclectic landscape of towering jacarandas, wild cacti and flowering shrubs that offer just the right amount of shade. That same mix and match design is translated into the various distinct spaces that take their inspiration from the winter homes of Montauk, summer vacations in The Hamptons and hot Mediterranean nights.
But the food, what about the food, I hear you say. Well, with Executive Chef Sebastien Lutaud at the helm you know you’re in safe hands. There’ll be a Burger Shack dishing out grass-fed beef burgers and fish and chips that fit in perfectly with casual summer days. But summer days are best spent lounging outdoors with something indulgent we say! And that smoked brisket is just calling our names.
Wanting to keep things light? Well you’ve been taken care of too because there’ll be a whole host of seasonal salads, fresh juices and smoothies to make your way through. And if you’re feeling a little Mambo Italiano, then you’ve got some Vinnie’s wood-fired pizza with a side of sunset views and a dash of live music to look forward to.
But it’s not all lounging and feasting (although there’s nothing wrong with that). Decking out a massive games area, there’ll be badminton, ping pong, a giant magnetic scrabble board (!!!) and exercise bikes that charge your phones to keep you occupied this summer.
Phew. It’s a lot to take in we know. But with this just being the first phase of Merivale’s redevelopment we can’t wait to see what’s in store later in 2016.
