After such a cracking start to the year, Brisbane’s eating, drinking, and doing scenes shows no signs of slowing down… even as we grapple with our dichotomising desire to be at once healthy and sated. This month basks in basted, deep-fried, inebriated wonderment with just enough raw kale to stave off the shame spiral. 

Here are some new Brisbane restaurants, bars, food trucks, and cafes that popped up like daisies, painting Brisbane’s ever-evolving metroscape with vibrant and scintillating hues. Get amongst it!

The latest from Damian Griffiths group is a sparkly, new Valley pleasure. Pumping out sugary, golden-brown hunks of pure ambrosia, Doughnut Time is the high-cholesterol revolution you’ve been waiting for. One bite of these suckers will ruin Krispy Kreme for you for life. 

Green Bees Organics

West End

Counterbalancing our freshly kindled doughnut habit, Green Bees Organics in West End is fiercely dedicated to inside-out nourishment that begins with a shot of wheatgrass and ends with attaining enlightenment. Their fare is super delicious and completely guilt free so you can have twice as much. 

Bella BBQ


Make no mistake, these guys won’t be basting their wings in mango chutney or banging out a Tibetan-style brisket anytime soon. The newly rolling Bella BBQ food truck is an all-slingin’, all-wingin’ chow wagon of purely Texan staples including ribs, wings, slaw, cob corn, and beans. Trundling to a meter near you. 

New Farm Confectionery

If you’ve chanced upon the sweet treats by this local confectioner, you’ll know that the opening of their flagship store off Brunswick Street is cause for serious excitement. Within New Farm Confectionery's cosy depths, packets of chocolate covered honeycomb, peanut brittle, and salted caramels await. 

Brisbane Brewing Co. 

West End

Laneway drinking in Brisbane has been taking off in a big way, and with all the dilapidated laneway real estate in West End, the only logical progression would be to build a craft brewery and get slammered. Brisbane Brewing Co's also got a full food menu to complement their myriad local brews so you don’t even have to cross the street!

Stones Corner is getting its very own burger joint and bar featuring a heavy-hitting menu inspired by the very best chills and vibes of New York’s five boroughs. 5 Boroughs is yet another entry for your constantly growing Brisbane Burger Bucket List.

The Foundry

Fortitude Valley

Providing studios and support to local and touring music acts, The Foundry is expanding their digs with the opening of their 300-person live room and bar. Totally music-centric, the Foundry is the perfect venue for music lovers to bliss out with a bevvie. 

The Stables Craft Bar and Kitchen


Hold your haunches because the Stables is set to become a blazing haunt to park your steed. Promises of weekend breakfasts, shareable feasts, whisky, craft beer, and plans to roast their own coffee makes this boutique bar one to watch this March. 

Pizzeria Violetta 


From the ingenuity that brought us delightful Brisbane restaurant Sichuan Bang Bang comes Kenmore’s cresting Italian endeavour. From the hand-picked Neapolitan pizzaioli to the custom built wood-fired oven, Pizzeria Violetta promises the kind of heart-wrenchingly perfect pizza to make any tragic heroine fall in love with you. Go figure.
