Founded on the basis of simplicity, the flavours coming out of the kitchen at Bar Bizu in West Perth are anything but.
After taking over the spot that was Amphoras in November, the team behind Bar Bizu comprises of two ex-Duende chefs—Jimmy Durrant and Marcello Kretzer—which explains why the food is so good.
A welcome addition to the suit-heavy west end, Bar Bizu brings plenty of good vibes to Hay Street and makes for the perfect spot to pop in for a relaxed long lunch or after work drinks that roll into dinner and a few too many wines.
Chef Kretzer’s menu is concise, features loads of local produce and is packed with flavour. From the black bean salad with avocado and the manchego corn fritters with red pepper sauce to the kingfish ceviche cured in pineapple and the lamb rump with peas and salsa verde, there’s something to suit any sized craving.
Even if you’re not a huge veggie fan, the tempura cauliflower bites are an absolute must order. Served with a miso vinaigrette, these little fried morsels go down extremely easily; and even better with a beer.
Speaking of beer, the bevs list features ales from local legends like Black Brewing Co., Gage Roads and Eagle Bay, as well as red, white and pink wines. They’ve also got some hard stuff in case you’ve had a particularly bad day at work, including whisky, rum, gin, vodka, tequila and bourbon. The cocktails are nicely priced and feature creations like the Smokey Sloe Negroni, the Ancient Sour and the Apple Crumble.
Bar Bizu is slinging drink specials most days of the week with happy hour from 5pm to 6pm Monday to Saturday. On Friday’s expect live music and DJs to ease you into the weekend and the space can be hired for special events on Sundays.
Open for lunch and dinner Monday through to Saturday, hit up Bar Bizu for all of the relaxed, tasty times.
