With a new pizza joint and burger bar, an awesome little cafe that will quickly become your favourite, a bar and an uber cool homewares store, Bassendean is fast becoming another hip Perth suburb to escape the madness of your day to day life.
Just a short drive from the city, here are five reasons Bassendean is the Perth ‘burb to watch!
Old Lira
Easily one of our favourite pizza places in Perth, Old Lira has recently left Bayswater (sob) for the up-and-coming, trendy ‘burb of Bassendean. Their new digs offer up a whole lot more space—perfect for a pizza party with your nearest and dearest—and their menu is on fire, as always. The number 2, with red sauce, nduja, salami, cacciatore and mozzarella is and always will be a crowd fave, and the number 12 with sage roasted pumpkin with ricotta, red onion, shaved almonds, mozzarella and a blue cheese sauce is worth turning vego for.
Holly Raye’s
Holly Raye's is hands down one of the coolest cafes and it’s super easy to find thanks to the giant Anya Brock painting of the owner’s pooch, Angus, plastered on the wall outside. Serving incredible cakes, brews using Micrology Coffee Roasters beans and eats that are as delicious as they are ‘Grammable, their brioche brekky burger is a sight to behold!
Daisy & Rowe
A visit to Bassendean is not complete without stopping by Daisy & Rowe to revel in their lust-worthy homewares and clothing. They stock beautiful, in-season blooms by Gaby Neylon Botanical, all our fave cool-girl ceramics by Robert Gordon, stationery goodness from Rifle Paper Co and wears by local Perth brand Lulu Kate Style. It’s safe to say you won’t leave empty handed.
8 Napkins
You can thank the legends from Academy for bringing some of the juiciest burgers to Bassendean at 8 Napkins. Wrap your lips around the Buffalo Bill with crispy fried chicken, your choice of blue cheese or ranch sauce, slaw and hot sauce and you will not be disappointed. Pair it with some thick-cut chips and finish with a banana split—you know you want to!
Cork And Bottle
Winners of the Australian Good Food & Travel Guide’s 2017 Readers Choice award for best tapas, Cork And Bottle is a friendly neighbourhood bar to add to your list. Serving boutique beers, top notch wines, spirits and ciders, they’ll also loan you a board game to enjoy alongside your tapas—legends!
