If you haven't ventured to the Coogee area lately you'd be forgiven, it's not really an area that springs to mind when you are deciding where to spend your precious time and dollies on food. But a lot has been happening down in Coogee and Spearwood, and all of a sudden, there are plenty of breakfast and lunch spots you'll want to check out. So why not head south this weekend and check out the speciality coffee, epic bagels and authentic Italian eats.

Here are 6 of the best cafes in Coogee and Spearwood that you need to check out stat.

Surfing Lizard

Open from 7am—3pm every day, Surfing Lizard Espresso Bar in Coogee does a mean breakfast, and their burgers are off the charts. With everything from homemade parmesan hash browns with poached eggs for brekky and comforting lunch classics like pea and ham soup served with crusty bread, their food has the honest and hearty vibe of a home cooked meal.

Coco + Boho

With speciality coffee, homemade food and fresh cold pressed juice, Coco + Boho’s cool interiors and delicious breakfasts make for the perfect morning fuel stop. You’ll find all your favourites like fish tacos for lunch and French toast or crab cakes with poached eggs and avocado for breakfast—an absolute must try.

These guys want everything to be Tickety Boo, with good ol’ fashioned service, local produce and a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu so big that it caters to every fancy. Open from 6:30am, dine in for some ricotta, white chocolate, citrus, brown sugar and mascarpone pancakes or grab one of their delicious and healthy takeaway lunch boxes—you simply can’t go wrong.

Just a few minutes away from Port Coogee, Beachpoint Cafe offers casual dining for brekky and lunch. With an extensive menu, you’ll find everything from turkey bagels with cream cheese and macadamia pancakes for breakfast to buffalo wings, a New York Rueben and tempura battered prawns for lunch.
