Perched on the corner of Guildford Road and Kenilworth Street, Garden Cafe On Guildford has got to be one of Maylands best kept secrets. This unassuming cafe dishes up some of the tastiest breakfasts, juices, lunch goodies and sweet treats in a super cosy and cool setting. And the best bit? You don’t have to fight to find a car park or wait in lengthy lines—that is until we let everyone in on the secret of course.
On a recent Friday morning we stepped inside Garden Cafe On Guildford, sidled up to a table by a window in the sunshine, drooled over the menu…and then found it immensely difficult to decide what to order. Everything sounded delicious!
After a good five minutes of humming and hawing we settled on the smashed pumpkin bruschetta and muesli, some delicious sounding juices and a chai latte.
Our drinks arrived—we got the Turmeric Nourish and the Lemon Ginger Tonic—and it’s safe to say they were among some of the best juices we’ve ever tasted in Perth. Full of zing and zest, they tasted like liquid health and perked us right up.
On the food front, the smashed pumpkin bruschetta stack was to die for. Served on toast with Danish feta, a fried egg and a drizzle of balsamic, as far as I’m concerned avocado is SO out and pumpkin is WAY in!
Life is all about balance—sweet and savoury, hot and cold, crunchy and smooth—and the apricot and coconut muesli with toasted macadamia, yoghurt and poached fruit was the perfect sweet accompaniment to the smashed pumpkin—full of nutty, fruity and yoghurt-y goodness.
As well as their tasty breakfast offering, Garden Cafe On Guildford serve up plenty of lunchtime treats like the haloumi burger, Angus beef burger and a loaded up club sandwich. They make all the usual suspects on the coffee front and as an added bonus, you can even text your order through. Oh and don’t forget to check out the sweets cabinet, it’s packed full of yummo cakes, slices and muffins.
So if you’re looking for a new place to catch up with your friends, grab your morning coffee or relax with the paper over breakfast, Garden Cafe On Guildford is it.
