While dining out at our favourite restaurants is temporarily on pause, some of Perth’s most delicious establishments are using this as the perfect opportunity to change up their offering to something a little more COVID-friendly. So to help them with their latest ventures, we’ve rounded up six Perth restaurants, bars, cafes and wine stores that are transforming their spaces into grocers and providores, helping to supply households with the mouth-watering produce we need to stay satiated and sane.
Wines Of While
Located on William Street in the CBD, Wines of While is your local natural wine store and bar, and now, your local small grocer. Serving up real wines, wholesome food and a new range of goodies like pasture-raised eggs, home-made preserves, vegetables, tinned fish, fresh pasta, sauces as well as freshly baked sourdough, seeded rye loaf and fruit loaf—bunkering down at home after a shop here doesn’t seem so bad. Open Tuesday to Sunday from midday until 12pm, these guys have got you covered.
Wise Child Wine
Gracing our glasses with delicious wine for over a year, the Wise Child Wine Store in North Fremantle is bursting full of Western Australia Natural wines, Craft beers and boutique spirits. Not only that, these guys are now offering an isolation delivery service straight to your door with all orders $90 or over, score. If you’re looking to get some other gourmet goodies alongside your booze, you can snap up anything from free range eggs, a case of cold brew, dill pickles, freshly baked bread and ready made quiches. Just when we thought we couldn’t love our local bottle-o any more.
Boasting one of Australia's best wine lists with winemakers from WA, across Australia and around the world, there’s no denying that the Chef Hatted Heritage Restaurant is bringing you the best of the best while in isolation. While we can’t come in for a delicious meal like we normally would, they’re still bringing the food, wine and fresh groceries to us, with their online store. Featuring everything from ready to bake pies, wine and dine meal packs, snacks, sides and ready to cook roasts—who knew this stay at home gig could be so delicious?
You’re probably familiar with East Fremantle’s unique neighbourhood bar, Young George, who knows a thing or two about serving up seriously tasty food. But what you probably didn’t know was that their COVID-19 version is now part grocery store, part takeaway and all parts deliciously convenient. Converting the front dining room into a convenience store with pantry basics, ready made meals, fresh bread, housemade bacon, organic eggs, locally grown vegetables and of course, booze, Young George pretty much has it all. Make sure to check online for a complete list of everything on offer and get behind local businesses.
