Grab a cuppa and take a seat, because we have so. Much. News!
First up, kombucha king Kommunity Brew has taken the plunge and opened Perth’s first ever kombucha bar, The Brewhouse. The bar is located inside one of our all-time fave venues—The Mantle in Freo—and they’re opening hours will align with the brand new The Mantle Harvester, which brings us to our second piece of news.
Making use of the area that is Don Tapa by night, The Mantle Harvester will be dishing out brekky on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 3pm, starting this Saturday 6 May! With dishes like jerk fried chicken waffles with maple and wattleseed mascarpone, whisky cured ocean trout bagels and healthier options like the health in a bowl—brown rice, quinoa, pickles, edamame, nuts, seeds and an egg—or the paleo granola with poached fruits and yoghurt, you’d be mad not to get there this weekend!
If you need more reason than that, from 10am brunch gets boozy with craft beer, local wines and breakfast cocktails all on offer. Our pick is the Hooch & Booch—Kommunity Brew’s wild jasmine kombucha with gin—because it’s sorta kinda a little bit healthy. If you’d prefer to stay sober, The Brewhouse has their ginger turmeric, oolong tea and wild jasmine brews on tap, as well as the current seasonal feature, matcha mint. Yum!
As you’d expect from The Mantle, local products are front and centre on the menu, with the GH Produce paleo granola made on site, Limeburner’s barrel aged Nannup honey, mushies from Life Cykel, beef from Princi Butchers and the Berkshire pork straight from Black Berky—so you know you’re getting the freshest stuff every time!
Kombucha cocktails and jerk fried chicken waffles, we’ll see you on Saturday!
