We’ve been eagerly awaiting news that the State Buildings will re-open and we’ve finally got it, but they’ve gone and outdone themselves with the announcement of a brand new wine bar and store and a little teaser of more to come. Hint: it involves a late-night bar you’re going to want to get around.

But first things first. COMO The Treasury, Wildflower, Long Chim, Petition and The Treasury Lounge and Bar will all be throwing open their big beautiful doors on Friday 12 June.

As we expected, these guys haven’t been sitting around twiddling their thumbs while restrictions forced them to close. Apart from delivering epic high tea and takeaway meals to drool over, they’ve also been working on a fresh new wine store, The Wine Merchant (more on that in a moment), and a refresh on the already fabulous Post which will re-open in July. Plus, while they’re keeping tight-lipped on this one for now, a new late-night bar will also open in July in the spot that used to be Halford. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for news on that in the coming weeks.

Now, let’s chat about that fresh new Wine Merchant. While Petition’s wine store was pretty epic already, they’ve gone and outdone themselves with this one. The team is calling it the “new social heart of the State Buildings Postal Hall” and we couldn’t agree more. You can sit down and have a glass or three, chat to the team—headed up by wine legend Emma Farrelly, who will blow your mind when it comes to their wine knowledge—or of course, just grab a bottle or two to take home, but that’s not all. Apart from a crazy big selection of wine, you’ll also be able to pick up goodies like biodynamic wine scented candles, Zalto decanters and pickles from the legends over at Coogee Common.

Wine Merchant will be open from 12pm tomorrow, Friday 12 June, so we’ll see you there.
