Home to plenty of amazing trails that showcase the best of what the valley has to offer, no matter whether you’re all about the wine or more into sampling the freshest produce, there’s a trail for you.
Here are six awesome trails to check off your Swan Valley bucket list.
#1 The Fine Wine Trail
This trail highlights the best of the wine in the Swan Valley region. All of the wines have won at the Singapore Airlines Swan Valley Wine Show, and you’ll be able to taste signature wines ranging the gamut from chenin blanc and verdelho to shiraz.
#2 The Wine And Art Trail
If you can’t get enough of the Swan Valley’s selection of wine, then you’ve got to try the Wine and Art Trail. Get up close and personal at the wineries to see just how wine is made, and then take a sip as you browse the amazing sculptures with the artisans themselves. It’s the perfect trail for a little bit of culture and a lot of amazing wine.
#3 The Cider And Ale Trail
The Swan Valley doesn’t just have incredible wine, it’s also known for its variety of craft beers. Go behind the scenes of the Swan Valley’s breweries and cideries and get to taste everything from ciders and ginger ales to lagers and pilsners.
#4 The Sweet Temptations Trail
If you’re after something a little sweeter, head there for the Sweet Temptations trail. Who needs breakfast when you have macarons, nougat, chocolate and moscato? Set your sights on the Maali Bridge Park and settle in on the grass while you indulge yourself with the Swan Valley’s finest delicacies.
#5 The Bush Tucker And Beyond Trail
Get a taste of traditional Noongar food on the bush tucker trail. At Maalinup, try a modern spin on the traditional tucker, and then head out into the bush to see nature at its finest. Take the trail through the natural elements of the Swan Valley and immerse yourself in the wonder of our very own backyard.
#6 The Fresh Seasonal Produce Trail
If you’re all about the freshest produce WA has to offer, you’re not going to want to miss out on this trail. You can take it all year round, and each time will be different. Head out in summer for delicious grapes, macadamias, melons and strawberries, or rug up in winter for some great citrus fruit. Honey is a speciality of the Swan Valley, and you can buy it straight from a beekeeper to ensure you only get the best natural honey. Fruit-picking is also available several times throughout the year, so check before you go, and you might end up coming home with boxes filled with fresh apples, strawberries or macadamias.
Want to enjoy the Swan Valley a bit longer? Head to the hills in October for the Entwined in the Valley Festival, where you can explore all the trails in one. Sample the best wine, food, fruit, beer and sweet treats, as well as browsing the artisan stores and attending masterclasses from Swan Valley craftsmen, chefs and sommeliers. Relax and listen to live music as you wind down for the night, and enjoy amazing food from grazing tables, barbeques and long degustations. What better way to spend the day?
