Arlo NoMad New York City

Cities don’t come better than New York and hotels don’t come much cooler than The Arlo NoMad

Located in the shadow of the Empire State Building and a short walk to Korea Town, Herald Square, Penn Station and Madison Square Park, this achingly hip hotel is perfectly located at the crossroads of uptown and downtown in an area bursting with some of the city’s best restaurants including Marta, Hill Country Barbecue, The Breslin, Gramercy Tavern and the eateries of Eataly.

From the moment you walk in to the 11 East 31st Street location, the hotel drips cool. A new breed of boutique ‘micro’ hotel popping up around NYC—giving travellers the option of a luxury hotel stay in a buzzy location without the hefty price tag—everything at The Arlo has been beautifully designed and curated, from the art and furniture to the communal spaces, restaurants and bikes you can borrow to zip around the city.

Each of the hotel’s 249 guest rooms are only 150 square feet, but what they lack in size, they make up for in personality. Floor to ceiling windows make the rooms feel bigger than they are (and make the most of the amazing views) and there’s no shortage of sleek features including a cleverly designed bathroom (with a huge rain shower—a godsend after walking around the city all day), mini-steamer, under-bed storage, huge TV, WIFI, mini-fridge and Blind Barber toiletries.

Knowing that most people don’t come to NYC to hang out in their hotel rooms, there are plenty of thoughtful communal spaces, including a library lounge area, stylish Italian restaurant Massoni, second floor bar and lounge Barlo, a 24-hour bodega in the lobby and the absolute crown in The Arlo jewel—rooftop bar The Heights—where you can sip a spritz, listen to some reggae and gaze out at the jaw-dropping Manhattan skyline views til your heart’s content.

Good things come in small packages and The Arlo NoMad won’t let you forget it in a hurry.

While you're there, here's everything you should be eating and drinking in New York City.
