Fun fact: the menu at The Guilford Hotel is crafted around a simple desire; to be able to hold your food with one hand, and a wine with the other. So obviously that’s a big yes from us.
When it comes to ordering, their dirty double burger with double the meat, cheese, lettuce, pickles and their secret burger sauce has had us falling in love hard and fast—we must know what this secret sauce is! And yes, everything on their menu does look this good so, finding a place to start can be hard. We opted for the 1kg of smokey meat lovin’ plate to share. It was a meal with no failures—beef brisket, jalapeno pork & cheddar sausages, lamb ribs, chicken with a pineapple hot butter sauce and sticky pork. Some may call it a cheat meal, but we’re 100% sure you’ll all be calling this one bloody delicious.
Aside from meat-sweat inducing share plates, these guys are also known for their DIY cocktails, huuuge sandwiches and of course, their bottomless fries. To score bottomless fries, make sure you order their mega steak sanga on a Sunday and around those bottomless fries. The doors of the 140-year-old establishment are wide-open seven days a week, and after exploring two stories of the original exposed brick, repurposed timber and brass finishes we’ve not only fallen for its burgers but also its charm.
Historic, gorgeous setting? Check. Exposed-brick-insta-backdrop-perfection? Check. Delicious share plates, bottomless fries, and our fave wines by the glass? Check, check and check. Whether you’re in the mood for a few quiet ones or a shameless loud one, or even a family fest, The Guildford is the perfect place for any occasion.
