Is there anything more Australian than a meat pie? We’re not talking Mrs Macs (though they do hold a special place in our hearts), we’re talking flaky pastry and delicious saucy fillings made with the freshest of fresh ingredients from some of this city’s finest establishments. But you know, still topped with some good ol’ tommie sauce of course!

Here is where to find Perth’s best pies.

Tuck Shop Cafe

It’s all in the pastry at Tuck Shop. Buttery, flaky, non fall-y apart-y pastry. These are gourmet pies and while some might argue they are on the more expensive side, we still reckon a Tuck Shop pie is worth every single penny. The beef and stilton will blow your mind and the lamb, rosemary and veg is what winter dreams are made of.

Mary Street Bakery

Highgate, Perth and West Leederville

Is there anything Mary Street Bakery can’t do? The answer at this stage is a resounding no because it turns out their pies are easily just as good as their doughnuts and brunches and coffee. The chicken and leek pie is nom-tastic and the sauce that comes with it is out of this world.  Seriously Mary Street, we love you.

Steak and cheese, pepper steak, or maybe a little chicken number? Whatever you choose, these pies are dang tasty. While pies might not be your typical beach-bod food, nothing beats a good meat pie after a swim.

Miami Bakehouse

Melville and Falcon

With about four hundred million flavours you’ll be sure to find one that tickles your fancy. These guys also do a pie of the week so there’s a new flavour errrry week! A few winners include the surf ‘n’ turf, the pulled pork and the lamb rendang. With all the meat sourced locally you can be sure this is going to be one top notch pie.

Jaylea’s Patisserie

Some of Perth’s best pies for sure. This humble little patisserie makes their pies with only the freshest of ingredients. The lamb and rosemary is a sure-fire winner every time!

Small Print

Small Print doesn’t do anything by halves and their pies are no exception. The pastry is out of control delicious and the fillings are just as good. They’ve got the usual suspects like chicken and mushroom or beef, but if you’re feeling fancy you might get lucky enough to score a beef cheek or rabbit pie.

Guildford Town Bakery

The Guildford Town Bakery makes seriously delicious pies. Do yourself a favour and get one of these stat. They also do vanilla slice which will make you cry tears of joy.

Golden Bakery

Osborne Park

Cheap and cheerful, Golden Bakery in Osborne Park sure does deliver on the pie-front. Perfect pastry jam packed full of meat and gravy. These are true blue Aussie pies.
