Ever contemplated flying to Italy for the weekend just to get your fill of their delicious food? Well, I’m here to tell you that you never have to do that because the sweetest Italian family from Umbria opened Threecoins Italian Trattoria in Mount Lawley a few years ago.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out this awesome Perth Italian restaurant yet, you’re really missing out. Authentic is the best word to describe this place, complete with red and white checked table cloths, Italian speaking staff and a menu straight out of the boot-shaped nation.
We stopped by on a recent Saturday night and it was immediately clear that bookings are essential—especially on weekends—as the place was packed.
First up we ordered the antipasti plank, because who doesn’t love cheese and cured meats? The platter was also filled to the brim with goodies like arancini, olives, artichoke dip, homemade flat bread and pickled veggies, but not for long because we polished it off in under five minutes.
For the mains we went for the pumpkin and taleggio ravioli and the handmade spaghetti ‘all’amatriciana. The ravioli was the standout—white truffle oil, butter, sage and parmesan come together to form a creamy, rich and delicious sauce—but it was no trouble at all devouring the handmade spaghetti with prosciutto.
We topped everything off with a Nutella calzone, because YOLO! While there were some much classier options on offer, whenever I see my ‘Ella’ hollering at me it’s like nothing else in the world exists. Accompanied with vanilla bean ice cream, it did not disappoint.
Threecoins also have a yummy selection of woodfired pizzas on offer, as well as some more substantial mains and a giant meat platter for two, which we’ll be back to try very soon!
For the opening hours, location and all of the details you’ll find Threecoins Italian Trattoria in The Directory.
