What’s Trending In Perth This January

Keeping up with the best events, new openings, pop-ups, and good things to eat in Perth is no mean feat (and we would know!). To make your life that little bit easier, and because we love a good list, we’ve teamed up with Peroni to bring you What’s Trending: A one-stop guide to everything worth checking out in your city this month, so you won’t miss a thing.

A new year, a new round of awesome new openings, food to eat and things to do and see in Perth. 2017, you’re looking mighty fine!

#1. Day Trips To Rotto

Rottnest is so much more than that place you went on school excursions back in primary school. It’s Perth’s own island oasis right on our doorsteps and, if you go by fast boat, it only takes around 40 minutes to get there. While you’re there, be sure to hire a bike and head out to Fays Bay for a paddle before making your way back to the settlement for lunch and a few cold bevvies at Hotel Rottnest Bar + Bistro.

#2. Saying "I Do"

If you’re not getting married in January, you’re sure to know someone who is. There’s just nothing like a stinking hot, Perth summer wedding to get you in the mood for love. If you’re a bridesmaid (or just need something new to wear) check out the top places to buy bridesmaid dresses in Perth.

#3. Anything That's Cold

With summer kicking into full swing, temps are set to soar into the high 30s in January and there’s no better way to cool down than with ice cold desserts—and maybe a dip in the deep blue sea too. Here’s where to find Perth’s best gelato and ice cream flavours.

#4. Netflix And Actual Chilling

January is the perfect time to crank up the A/C, stock the fridge with ice cold beers and catch up on the hottest Netflix content from the year gone by. To get you started, here are 5 new documentaries you need to watch now and the secret Netflix categories you don’t know about yet.

#5. Seeing Seafood Everywhere

Summer is the time to eat copious amounts of seafood, preferably by the seashore. We’re quite partial to soft-shell crab, seafood platters and fancy fish and chips at the moment. Think of all the Omega 3 you’ll be getting!

#6. Getting #Fitspo Fit

Enjoy riding the high of your new year’s resolutions with the best new workout classes in Perth. The time to set up healthy new habits for the year ahead is now, so why not try something new, like a box and bike class at the Queen Street Gym before tucking into a poke bowl.

#7. Italian Dinner Deals

If you haven’t yet tried the latest and greatest dinner deal being offered up by three of our Northbridge faves—No Mafia, Francoforte Spaghetti Bar and Chicho Gelato—you need to get your priorities in order! It’s called the Tre Amici and for the sweet Euro-friendly fee of $35 per person you get antipasti, a big bowl of pasta just like Nonna makes it and a Gelato night cap. Yum!

#8. Weekends Spent By The Beach

There’s nothing that soothes the soul better than weekends spent at the beach. One of our favourite beachside hangs is The Beach Club in Cottesloe. Round up your besties, order a round of drinks (and some tasty food of course) and enjoy that fresh sea breeze.

#9. Going To A Bar For Dessert

Cakes, cupcakes, macarons, desserts and coffee galore, The Garnished Co is a brand new artisan dessert bar in Wembley that will knock your socks off. Their sweet treats are some of the prettiest we’ve seen, not to mention delicious. Pop this place on your January bucket list, stat!

#10. Replicating Holidays In Asia

If you’re not one of the lucky ones escaping to a tropical island this January, why not create your own little holiday at home by visiting the Bali Secret Beauty Spa for an ultimate pamper sesh before heading out to Perth’s newest Thai eatery, Bangkok Brothers for a few Tom Yum cocktails and some tasty crazy wings. It’ll still be cheaper than flights and accommodation!
