5 Awesome Things to do in Sydney this Week

By Florence Tan - 12 Oct 2015

Who said you could only have fun on weekends? We’ve got fast food talks, a sauvignon and seafood trail, a free exercise class and then some to help you make the most out of your week. Check out our list of five awesome things to do in Sydney this week.

The Ethics of Fast Food

Fast food bad? No, of course not. Join fast food revivalists, Jake Smyth (Mary’s Burgers), Luke Powell (LP’s Quality Meats) and Dan McGuirt (Jazz City Diner) as they cut the fat and get into the nitty gritty of the Ethics of Fast Food. Is the swap to fancier slaw, sweet potato fries and timber boards a protest against food elitism or are we letting a new snootiness seep into our greasy burgers? Find out over burgers, ribs and beers this Tuesday 13th October. Get your tickets here.

Bad Pony at 'SOSUEME'

Add a little muso-flare to your Wednesday and check out Bad Pony at ‘SOSUEME’ The Valley for the start of the NSW leg of their 15 date tour. Debuting their new EP Limbo, this Sydney quintet having been teasing the airwaves with their honest lyrics and unconventional use of percussion for a while now and on 14th October you can check them out as well as the likes of Flowertruck and Food Court. Guaranteed to make you oh so indie-cool amongst your mates, head down to Bondi for some easy beats to get you through hump-day.

The Greek Film Festival begins

If the closest you’ve ever gotten to Greek cinema is My Big Fat Greek Wedding, change that quick smart this week at the Greek Film Festival. Opening with the World premiere of Alex & Eve, the film adaptation of the hit Australian stage play, there’s a whole program filled with rom-coms, gypsy docos and edge-of-your-seat dramas. Playing at the Palace Cinema, date night is sorted with dinner on Norton Street and any one of the film offerings brought to you by the best Greek talent around.

2015 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc & Seafood Trail

The much-loved Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is turning 30 this year and is celebrating in style with a Sauvignon Blanc & Seafood Trail beginning at The Gantry at Pier One and ending at Revesi’s in Bondi. Each participating restaurant will pair one of their signature seafood dishes with the new 2015 vintage. So why not follow the bright notes of grapefruit and kaffir lime to The Century for some scallops with XO sauce, or savour a silky palate of juicy stone fruit and lemongrass with the marinated snapper at Hotel Centennial. We challenge you to try all five restaurants on the trail and this week is the perfect time to start.
