The first serious heat wave of the summer sent us Sydneysiders into a state of code-red panic. Hair was frizzy, make up ghoulish and guys looked desperately uncomfortable in those heat-trapping trousers. Assuming you didn’t melt we have five awesome things to do in Sydney this week that don’t involve wallowing in a blow up pool in your backyard... that does sounds like fun though…
The Laphroaig Stone Wall Social
If you like whisky (or like to think you like whisky) be sure to check out Laphroaig’s Stone Wall Social event at The Clocks Whisky Room on Monday 23rd of November. In celebration of 200 years of distilling premium whisky, Laphroaig is throwing take-over events in Australia’s major cities. For just $25 guests can sample from Laphroaig’s premium casks, try crazy whisky cocktail creations and win awesome prizes like $10,000 worth of Laphroaig (!!!). If you find yourself in a whisky-induced haze, remember it’s nearing the time when “sick days” become more acceptable, if not expected. Purchase your tickets here.

Henley's Wholefoods Grass Roots Event
We just can’t get enough of Henley’s Grass Roots series and their third event is a doozy. Inviting all health-conscious carnivores to their newly opened Double Bay outpost, the Henley’s Wholefoods team will be joined by the true blue butchers behind 1888 Certified. Opening the lid on why sustainability and knowing the ins and outs of your t-bone’s journey from field to fork is so important, be sure to register here.

The Greats: Masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland
Go soak up some old-school culture (God knows you need it) at the NSW Art Gallery to see The Greats: Masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland. This is a collection of some of the world’s most revered old master paintings by names recognisable to even the most art-illiterate among us. Included are works from the Renaissance to the Impressionist period by the likes of Botticelli, Leonardo, Cezanne, Gauguin, Raphael and Vermeer. Think of all the smug conversations you can have after seeing this exhibit. More info here.
When: Till Sunday 14th February
Brown Brothers Prosecco Summer Terrace
The Palace Cinemas on Norton Street was already one of our favourite places to act all grown-up and sophisticated and is now decidedly summer friendly thanks to the addition of the Brown Brothers Prosecco Summer Terrace. Relax pre or post movie and spot all sorts of thrifty goings-on from this lofty vantage point. You can enjoy a glass of Brown Brothers wine or prosecco from between 10am and 10pm any day of the week— film is optional.
When: Throughout summer
