The City of Sydney is giving away 1,000 trees to locals this Saturday 7 April at Sydney Park. That’s right, one thooooousand trees. For zero dollars. Yes, zero.
It’s all pretty simple. You just need to head down to Sydney Park and there’ll be council staff on hand to chat about the best tree for your needs, whether it's a small bottle brush shrub, a rather delicious-sounding cheese tree, or even a towering jacaranda. The catch? You must be a resident of the City of Sydney’s area suburbs to score your greenie freebie.
The giveaway is part of the council’s initiative to beautify our urban landscape, improve air quality, and provide habitats for birds and animals. Plus, they’re hoping to increase Sydney’s urban canopy by 50 per cent by 2030. That’s some decent eco goals right there, amirite?
