Planning a first date can be a completely nerve-wracking experience. The object of your affection has finally said yes, and now it's in your hands to pull together a winning date. Yikes. You've got the dress, you've got the killer heels, now all you need is the location. Luckily, here at The Urban List we're more than happy to play concierge and present you with our single girl's guide to Sydney bars.

Still got the jitters? If you'd rather leave your date in the hands of an expert—a courting maestro if you will—we've got just the thing. It's called a Winger, and it involves you and a couple of your friends matched with three new friends and shouted a free round of drinks. Sounds good, right?

In the meantime here are the best bars in Sydney, perfect for a first date (which will hopefully lead to a second!).

Stitch Bar | CBD

Great for after-work drinks, Stitch Bar is conveniently located in the CBD, and joins the ranks of speakeasy bars taking over Sydney. Modelled with loads of American charm, snag a leather booth and get comfy. The cocktail list is sure to get the conversation flowing—our picks are the Monkey Magic or the Manhattan 2Times if you're in the mood to share.

Manly Wine | Manly

One of our favourite bars on the northside, Manly Wine has a fun, local's vibe and is renowned for its delicious seafood and 100-strong wine list. Take a swig while soaking up glistening views across the beach. Our tip: check in on a Sunday for $15 cocktail jugs such as white wine sangria or Pimm's and lemonade—that's sure to get the date off to a good start.

The Corner House | Bondi

This iconic Bondi bar is a great spot for laid-back drinks. Serving delicious Italian fare and an extraordinary wine list, this seductive spot makes for a relaxing evening, with plenty of private nooks to slide into for a bit of privacy. WINK.

Eau De Vie | Darlinghurst

Cocktails and first dates go hand in hand and Eau De Vie is one of Sydney's best cocktail bars with an impressive repertoire of classics and unique concoctions. Watch as skilled mixologists don gloves and goggles before ladling up liquid nitrogen ice-cold martinis before your very eyes.

Opera Bar | CBD

With tasty food, great cocktails, and spectacular views to boot, Opera Bar has got to be one of the best date spots in Sydney. Ideal for midweek drinks, there's daily live music and ample seating inside and out. If dinner is on the cards, the mushroom arancini and the chilli prawn pizza is a winner (And you can share! Nawww.).

The Stoned Crow | Crows Nest

Friends in the north, if you're looking for a lively destination to spice up date night, The Stoned Crow has you covered. Split a sangria jug and a couple of tapas plates, before sweetening the deal with the oven-baked brownie swirls. You know what they say about chocolate, right?

Jekyll & Hyde | Darlinghurst

For the more sophisticated fellas, Jekyll & Hyde is a café and wine bar that's sure to impress. The food is designed to be shared, so order a bottle (or two) of wine and get cosy. On balmy nights the stylish courtyard has just the right amount of romance.

The Passage | Darlinghurst

The ideal courting spot, The Passage is slick, sophisticated, and perfect for a little late-night revelry. Share a bottle of wine, or indulge in one of their cocktails (we love the barrel-aged Manhattan or the Hendricks Lamar—geddit?).

Too shy to go it alone? Perform better in a group? Rather spend a night in with your hot water bottle than go on a date? We may have found the solution to your dating woes! Why not grab some friends and go on a Winger? It's a brand new invite–only social club you should totally check out. But click quick! It's first in best dressed.
