Healthy Food Brisbane

It feels goddamn virtuous to choose a big healthy salad for lunch. You don’t get that stodgy, guilty feeling you might get from eating something a bit naughty. The only thing that kinda sucks is when you eat approximately five lettuce leaves and some tomato disguised as a fully-functioning salad and find yourself hungry two minutes later. No deal.

Well, fear not, salad-loving friends. For healthy food lovers in Brisbane who want salads that are not only delicious, but have the added bonus of filling us up so we won’t be reaching for the carbs before the hour is out, here are the places to hit up!

Red Hill

The guys at Botanica have a whole range of salads that not only look gorgeous, they taste amazing too. Help yourself to a small, medium or family size serve of salads like chickpeas and roasted capsicum with fresh tomato, roasted red capsicum, fresh basil and red wine vinegar. Get fuelled up and filled up with freekah and roasted eggplant, prunes, mint, almonds and turmeric cashew cream.

California Native

Nothing says salad quite like a big, Mexican-inspired salad. Get your self down to California Native in Coorparoo and try the California Rose, a Cali-Mex style hearty, crunchy vegetable salad with apple, served on a warm tortilla base with pinto beans, salsa fresca, manchego cheese and sour cream. They also have another three big hero salads, sure to bust your hunger.

AJ Vietnamese Noodle House

Make a visit to AJ Vietnamese Noodle House on Charlotte Street in the CBD. The food here is delicious, cheap and bursting with fresh Vietnamese flavours. For a salad fix that’ll bust your hunger, try one of their vermicelli salads. We’re talking loads of vermicelli noodles, crisp lettuce, crunchy cucumber, carrot, sprouts, crushed peanuts, dressing and your choice of chopped up spring rolls, prawns, grilled pork, chicken or lemon grass beef.

Little Greek Taverna

West End

The Greek is the mother of all salads and the guys at Little Greek Taverna combine a few of your favourite things to create mighty filling salads. Crunchy lettuce, olives, fresh tomatoes, crumbled feta are topped with the likes of chargrilled calamari, garlic prawns, chargrilled octopus or stuffed field mushrooms. Drizzle some olive oil on it and you’ve got yourself a salad party.

Rush CBD

Rush in Brisbane’s CBD have a number of very tempting salads to choose from. Best of all, you can order a few of them to share and get to try all of them. There’s a wild rice, nut and sour cherry salad as well as roasted sweet potato with pecans and maple syrup and a butternut pumpkin, rocket and crispy speck salad served with pecorino and a moroccan dressing.

Spring Food & Wine

Feeling fancy? Try the filling and delicious salads on offer at Spring Food & Wine in the CBD. We’re talking haloumi and pumpkin salad with sliced almonds, eggplant jam and dressed green leaves or a herb salad with salt and pepper squid. Get out of my dreams and onto my plate.

Sourced Grocer

It’s no surprise that Sourced Grocer have more than a few really delicious, filling salads to chow into. Try their delectable quinoa salad with quinoa, lentils, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, almon, mint, parsley, grapes, shaved shallots, verjuice dressing and whipped ricotta. Yep, that’s a real thing, guys. You could also try their roast cabbage salad with malt roasted cabbage, sprouted grains, artichoke custard, bottarga and apple.
