Barbara is taking a different approach to the international day of love. In a stark rejection of roses and teddy bears, they’ve invited the professional Cupids at Dear Pluto to help celebrate Valentine’s Day with a speed dating pizza party. Grab your Nikes.
In the present climate where dating apps are the norm, Dear Pluto takes things back to the old school model of face-to-face matching. Their speed dating events are about getting everyone nice and relaxed and on their best behaviour, hence the setting in the chilled and affable Barbara Bar. It’s like swiping in person, only slower and less superficial. Here’s how it works: Over the course of the evening, attendees will go on 20 micro-dates where they can test drive some chat with a potential valentine with the help of some handy conversation cards. Barbara will do their bit to create the right mood with some seriously good soul and R&B, as well as a screening of the pizza breakdancing movie ‘Delivery Boys’.
Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased in lots of two or three. As this evening is for 20-35 year olds looking for a heterogenous match they’re looking for even ratios so anyone looking to come solo or in a single sex group will need to enter the ballot for a ticket. Maybe you’ll get lucky twice.
