If you dig on both plant-based dining and eating out, then the name Alejandro Cancino should be ringing some bells. A local expert on plant-based cooking, Cancino is best known as the chef of Urban Group and the curator behind Urbane’s celebrated vegan degustation, and now he’s bringing his expertise to frolic in the verdant paddocks of West End’s latest vegan café, Grown.

In collaboration with the café’s owner Sacha Muchall, Cancino’s degustation menu will put the finesse and craftsmanship of his fine dining background to the service of Grown’s vegan ethos. The underlying mission? To get people trying vegan food and appreciating the wealth of flavour that you don’t need animal products to access. The degustation will feature an entirely vegan seven-course dinner, with an option of either alcoholic or non-alcoholic pairings, so it’s even perfect for underage foodies.

Capacity is capped at 16 per night so bookings are essential and can be made via email (hello@grownbne.com) or phone (07 3036 7213). Check out the event page for more details.
