When we heard that Monty’s Leap was about to reopen with a new cellar door and brand spanking new restaurant we were pretty excited.
Set to open in December this year, Monty’s Leap sits pretty alongside the Kalgan River with epic views of the rolling hills in the valley that make this place home. Just 20 minutes out of Albany, the ridiculously beautiful views and super modern interiors make this one place to add to your Great Southern foodie list.
The menu will be seasonal so you can expect to see nothing but the freshest local produce going around. While West Aussie produce will be the hero, we’re expecting to see a Southern French influence from the likes of places like Marseille along the Mediterranean. Flavoursome, fresh food—sounds like a win to us. One secret we will let you in on is that there’ll be dishes to showcase the local Leeuwin Coast Ayoka Oyster, so if seafood is your thing, we beg you to look out for when this gem opens.
There’s 10 hectares of wine including sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, cabernet franc, merlot, shiraz and cabernet sauvignon producing some incredible wines. A favourite of ours? It has to be the sparkling. One glass in and you’ll see what all the fuss is about.
Just around the corner is this Kalgan River farmstay so we recommend packing the bags, heading down to this pretty little part of the world and getting all sorts of relaxed before diving into a meal and wine tasting at Monty’s Leap.
