Whether you’re a margarita fan or negroni tragic, there’s nothing quite like sinking into a well earned cocktail after a long week of work. And for CBD workers, Bobeche is the perfect underground haunt to pull in for that cheeky nightcap.
Hidden below the award-winning Heritage Wine Bar in Brookfield Place, this prohibition-style basement joint is known for delivering modern takes on crowd-pleasing classics. And while new Bar Manager Patrick Carpenter has completely revamped their menu, this is one tradition they haven’t let go of. Their new spring menu boasts big flavours and Heston-worthy techniques, with plenty of tasty little surprises to keep your palette guessing.
So what’s on this new menu? Well, thankfully you’ll still be able to pick up one of their famous Bobeche Iced Teas—served in a decorative teapot, this refreshing little number is perfect for sharing while you decide what to try next. When you’re ready to move on, there’s a new Pineapple Daiquiri that sings of chargrilled pineapple and goes down far too easily, or why not try a Flora Dora Fizz—a zesty gin number with lacto-fermented strawberries and peppercorn. Our pick though has to be the Banana Kingston, a spin on the classic negroni, complete with Goslings rum and banana.
You can wash all those drinks down with handfuls of popcorn or, if you’re chasing more of a feed, delve into their exceptional late-night eats from sister venue, Heritage Wine Bar. We think you’ll love the hash browns with malt vinegar and parmesan—just be warned, you might want to order a few because they’re so good you definitely won’t want to share.
Oh, and did we mention they’re also bringing in magicians, snake charmers and cabaret dancers on Saturday nights? Yep, that’s right. Come for the drinks and stay for the entertainment, either way, you’ll be in for a treat at this sassy speakeasy.
