If we can steer your attention away from the US election for just a moment—we have a little excellent, cheesy news for your Thursday afternoon. Normally reserved for lucky Sydneysiders, Perth is getting access to Bon Fromage—a massive French cheese festival where you can order a hefty 1.5 tonnes of delicious cheese for—wait for it—zero dollars and take part in online tasting from the comfort of home.
For the unacquainted, Bon Fromage was masterminded by some pretty serious French cheese pros (the Centre National Interprofessionel de l’Economie Laitière, to be exact) along with the European Union. So yeah, in the wonderful world of cheese, it’s legit.
Like all good events in 2020, this weeklong festival has gone virtual—but we're not mad because it means we can actually take part.
You'll be able to order gourmet cheese packs filled with half a kilo of cheese for free. The only cost you'll need to pay is a flat-rate shipping fee of $20. Insane? Madness? Whatever you want to call it, we are into it.
Bon Fromage will also feature free masterclasses where you’ll learn essential life skills like matching cheese to wine, beer or gin; the difference between creamy and stinky cheese and the tasty history of French cheese.
Cheese packs will be delivered from Monday 16 November, with classes kicking off from Saturday 21 November. For more details and to make your order, head over here.
