Fellow east-siders will know that cafe options become pretty scarce once you’ve passed the borders of Maylands and Bayswater. Thankfully, Cafe 2TwentyFour have come along and answered all of our east-side foodie prayers. Situated in the Belmont shopping precinct, close to Reading Cinemas (a.k.a. The Best Cinema In Perth), Cafe 2TwentyFour serve up breakfasts and lunches of epic proportions, as well as some pretty freaky milkshakes and delicious sweet treats.
Walking into the buzzing, light-filled space on a Saturday morning, it was pretty clear that I should have exercised prior to coming to breakfast as more than 10 CrossFit-clad junkies were lined up at the register. I didn’t let this sway my order because you can always exercise AFTER breakfast, or in three day’s time. Take that CrossFitters!
After perusing the menu for a really long time (there were so many delicious options) my brekky partner and I made our final selections, a banana smoothie and pink passion juice, and for eats the chorizo stack and pulled pork eggs benedict.
The drinks came first and the banana smoothie was one of the best I have tasted (and I make a pretty mean banana smoothie so that’s saying something!) Made with banana, Greek yoghurt, milk and honey, topped with cinnamon and rimmed with a deliciously sticky coconut/honey concoction that I couldn’t help but lick off, I slurped this bad boy down quicker than I reach for the Nutella jar when I get home from work.
The Pink Passion juice was super refreshing in all its watermelon-y, strawberry-y, lemon-y, apple-y glory—perfect for a hot summer’s day.
I have a pretty hard-core cured meat and salami addiction (hello nitrates) and couldn’t pass up the Chorizo Stack, especially when the friendly staff at 2TwentyFour recommended it. Piled high on some crusty ciabatta toast, the stack comes with juicy roast baby tomatoes, baby spinach, two perfect poachies, creamy Danish feta and caramelised onion relish. The flavours balanced perfectly and I was super stoked that Cafe 2TwentyFour hand out decent serrated knives so I could cut through the toast with ease. There is nothing worse than not being able to eat your breakfast at pace!
The pulled pork eggs benny on ciabatta was equally delicious—a very generous helping of juicy pulled pork, topped with two poached eggs and served with wilted spinach and homemade hollandaise sauce. And I can’t forget the edible flowers, Cafe 2TwentyFour certainly know how to make things delicious and pretty!
As we chowed down on our breakfast we saw countless super shakes emerge from the kitchen and one even had an entire Golden Gaytime ice-cream plunged into it. I’ll definitely be back for one of these bad boys—perhaps after a CrossFit session!
If you’re a homebody who prefers eating their breakfast or lunch at home, everything on the menu can be made to take away. Cafe 2TwentyFour also sell some of the most delicious-looking raw treats, as well as the regular unhealthy, but delicious kind of sweets like cupcakes from Little Sweet Tooth Cakery and Malteser and Caramello Koala slices from Mumma’s Sweet Lies. The crew here don’t do anything by halves—even the coffee is jacked up with a side-serving of fairy floss.
Open every day until 3pm, head to Cafe 2TwentyFour when you’re in the mood for really great service, delicious food and a touch of indulgence.
