This winter, Perth is coming alive with art activations, mesmerising light shows, whiskey tastings, ice skating, drool-worthy eats, magicians—and that’s just the beginning.
Winter Fest is back from 24 June to 21 July and thanks to City of Perth, we’ve got everything you need to know so you can prep for your best winter yet. The mercury may have dropped but your social calendar is just heating up.
Northern Lights Down South
This year, Swiss artist Dan Acher brings the Northern Lights to Perth with BOREALIS—a light installation that beams lasers through particle clouds to recreate the natural phenomenon. Get to Forrest Place from 24 to 30 June, between 6pm and 10pm—you won't want to miss it. This is what Insta-dreams are made of.
For more stunning visuals, step into Brookfield Place from 3 to 13 July at 6pm to 11pm and feast your eyes on the dazzling light projections splashed over buildings and thought-provoking art installations popping up in the street. It's going to be pure magic.
Cirque De Perth
Get hyped for the adults-only Winter Fest Theatre when Forrest Place is taken over by magicians, acrobats, comedians, jugglers, singers and dancers on 12 and 19 July, or stop by from 6 to 21 July for the family-friendly version. This event is free but bookings are essential, head here so you don’t miss out.
You best arrive hungry because a slew of venues are serving up drool-worthy deals like $10 hot cocktails at Street Eats Eatery, Winter Whiskey Masterclasses at Whipper Snapper Distillery or Dr Pepper loaded cheese fries and warm espresso cocoa cocktails at Lazy Lee Urban Eatery. Get in quick, these deals are only sticking around from 24 June to 21 July.
Ice Skating Dreamland
For peak nostalgia, get to the Ice Skating Festival from 28 June to 21 July at Elizabeth Quay. Here, you can glide across the pop-up ice skating rink and slip down ice slides. Sign us up.
Bust out the puffer jacket and grab tickets to Girls School Cinema, a pop-up cinema experience brought to you by the talented team behind Rooftop Movies and FRINGE WORLD. Movies will be on the big screen every Wednesday to Sunday until 12 October and you won't want to miss out. Purchase tickets and check out the full program here.
With all of this and so much more packed into the Winter Fest program, you best start planning now. This is going to be your best winter yet.
