If you’re a fan of the soul, rhythm and blues music scene, then you’ve probably already heard of her. And if you haven’t, you’re missing out. Luckily for us, Mojo Juju is bringing her amazing set of pipes to the Perth with a performance at Jack Rabbit Slims tonight.
Boasting an amazing voice and poetic storytelling ability, this is one gig you don’t want to miss.
Mojo Ruiz de Luzuriaga (AKA Mojo Juju) will be coming to Perth as part of her Native Tongue Album Tour. The album tells the story of her family history, her relationship with elders and ancestry and how that’s impacted on her own identity. Her ability to turn raw, honest, poetic, and political reflections of her own life and culture into beautiful and moving songs is just one of the things that makes Mojo Juju such a unique and talented modern Australian musician.
Identifying as a mixed race queer woman, Mojo provides a voice for those that are often underrepresented in the music industry and does so without pulling any punches. And while her music tells the complex story of her own life and cultural identity, there’s something about her tunes and their deep, soulful lyrics that everyone can resonate with.
If you ask anyone who’s seen her perform, they’ll tell you how amazing she is. Why not experience it for yourself? Get yourself to Jack Rabbit Slims next Friday and experience the magic of Mojo Juju live. Prepare to feel ALL the feels.
