It’s the last weekend of winter Perth peeps, can we get a hell yeah?! Time to bid that frosty bitch adieu with some fun, food and festival action.

Here are the best Perth events this weekend.

Friday 28th August

Kick off your weekend at the final Winter Supper Club of the year at the Perth Town Hall. You can feast on hearty dishes like gumbo, gnocchi, baked potatoes and paella, all the while sipping on mulled wine. If that doesn’t get you excited, the range of desserts on offer will. There’ll be cronuts, gourmet marshmallows, poffertjes and dutch apple pie, as well as some pretty decadent gourmet hot chocolates. Once you’ve added significantly to this year’s blubber supplies, you can head upstairs and watch The Spooky Men of the West, an all male a cappella group. Friday perfection!

Where: Perth Town Hall
When: Friday 28 August, 4:30pm – 8pm
Tickets: Free entry, pay as you eat

It’s time to party with the kids of some of Australia’s most well known wine-makers at the Next Generation of Australia’s First Families of Wine (AFFW) Unleashed this Friday night. Hosted at The Flour Factory, you’ll get a chance to taste wines from the likes of Henschke, Tyrrell's and Brown Brothers while chatting to the latest generation of winemakers to grace our vineyards. Also present will be the kids from McWilliams, Howard Park, Jim Barry, Tahbilk, Yalumba, Taylors, d'Arenberg, De Bortoli and Cambells. Friday night wine time just got interesting.

Where: The Flour Factory
When: Friday 28 August, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Tickets: $30 and are available here

Fancy watching people hand over the reigns of their brain to a complete stranger? We thought so! Matthew Hale’s Comedy Hypnosis show at Rigby’s Bar in Perth is set to be an epic night of embarrassment for some poor souls, but a hilarious affair for the rest of us. Volunteers will be transported into talking aliens, taken on strange car rides and they’ll discover talents they never knew they had. If you’re looking for a feed as well as some fun, Rigby’s have you covered with a three-course meal on offer with your ticket.

Where: Rigby’s Bar
When: Friday 28 August, from 7pm
Tickets: Available here

Saturday 29th August

If wedding bells are in your future, you are going to want to head to the Perth Wedding Upmarket at the University of Western Australia this Sunday. Showcasing some of WA’s best wedding vendors you’ll have your big day planned in no time at all. Plus, the event is totally free, bet you didn’t see that coming!

Where: Winthrop Hall Undercroft, UWA
When: Saturday 29 August, 10am – 3pm
Tickets: Free (probably the only time you’ll hear the word ‘free’ while planning your wedding, just sayin’)

Sydney’s favourite craft beer makers, Young Henrys, are headed to our sunny coast for a weekend of beer tasting fun. They’ll be bringing with them their much loved Newtowner ale and hosting numerous events around town, but we’ve got our eye on the homebrew day at The Mantle in Freo. Brewers, beer nerds and drinkers are welcome to join the fun and learn the art of making the Newtowner at home. If beer making ain’t your thing, the guys from Young Henrys will be selling $5 schmiddys of their brew at 399 Bar from 6pm. Chilli dogs and hopped Noble Cut martinis will also be up for grabs!

Where: Various locations around Perth
When: Friday to Sunday
More information: Available here

Sunday 30th August

After all the drinking and dining you will have done over the weekend, you might want to think about joining the thousands of Perthites at this year’s Chevron City to Surf. While the marathon might be a little overambitious for most, a 4-12K walk or run will get you feeling ready for swimsuit season, or at least better about all the cronuts you ate at the Winter Supper Club on Friday night. Make sure you register prior to the event otherwise you would have forgone your Sunday sleep-in for nothing.

Where: Perth
When: Sunday 30 August, from 5:30am
Register: Before 5pm Saturday 29 August, more information here

Perth fashionistas, you are going to want to get down to Hackett Hall this Sunday for The Perth Fashion Festival’s Sunday Best Market. The event will showcase some of Perth’s best designers and gives you the rare opportunity to purchase their wares. Designer clothes, jewellery and accessories will all be up for grabs. Who knows, you might even find something to wear to one of the runway shows.

Where: Hackett Hall, WA Museum
When: Sunday 30 August, 10am – 4pm
Tickets: Free

All weekend

If you haven’t seen it already, you’re going to want to catch one of the final showings of Absinthe in the spiegeltent at the Backcourt of Perth Arena. The adult only show is inspired by the cabarets of late 19th century Europe; think Circ du Soleil and Moulin Rouge with a naughty twist. Get there an hour before your show for a drink in the Spiegelworld Garden Bar.

Where: The Backcourt at Perth Arena
When: Friday 28 August – Sunday 30 August
Tickets: Available here

Northam will be an Instagrammers paradise this weekend at the National Ballooning Championships. The event will see hot air balloon pilots from all over the world take to the skies in a number of challenges that span 10 days. This event is free for spectators and aside from sky-gazing, there are a number of community events you can take part in.

Where: Northam
When: Friday 28 August – Sunday 6 September
More information: Available here
