5 Awesome Things Happening In Sydney This Week

By Millie Hilton - 10 Apr 2017

Crab Carnival The Morrison

With the Easter Bunny around the corner, we’re committed to layering oozing, melted butter on our hot cross buns, and inhaling a chocolate egg (or five) to start off the week. But sometimes we have to break away from this delicious (but vital) ritual to enjoy all the other goodies Sydney has in store.

This week, there’s fun for the vegans, movie buffs, yogies, and (most importantly) the wine-and-dine enthusiasts. Let’s just say you won’t go hungry because we’ve always got your back (and your belly).

Wharf Bar Wine Bar Series

What better way to spend your Tuesday evening than on the water at Wharf Bar’s first wine bar series event. Adam North from Hopkins River Beef is dishing up a three-course dinner with matching wines, complete with juicy cuts of porterhouse and scotch fillet steaks, alongside shiraz from Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale.

What: Wharf Wine Bar Series
When: Tuesday 11 April from 6:30pm
Where: Manly Wharf Hotel, East Esplanade, Manly
Cost: $110

Vegan Night Market

Sydney vegans listen up because a night market dedicated to you is happening this week! The Vegan Collective Autumn Indulgence Night Market has cheesy toasties, waffles, Egyptian food (did someone say falafel?), raw, sugar and dairy free cakes and pastries, and heaps more (including vegan approved scented candles, clothing and makeup). Brought to you by local vegan masterminds like Treat Dreams, The Vegan Teahouse, Waffles & Dom, Two Chaps and Green Wise Monkeys, your gold coin donation will benefit the NSW Hen Rescue, and there’ll even be live music all night long.

What: Vegan Collective Autumn Indulgence Night Market
When: Wednesday 12 April from 7pm
Where: Portugal Madeira Club, 1-3 Denby Street, Marrickville
Cost: Gold coin entry

Morrison Crab Carnival

Climb out of that shell and waddle your way down to the Morrison for the ultimate crustacean celebration. Delight your tastebuds with winter warmers such as the king crab mac and cheese, the chilli crab linguine, the open crab pie and the crab and lettuce tacos. Because the Morrison is seafood obsessed (and so are we), you’ll want to wash it all down with the Crabby Met Mary, their take on the bloody mary, complete with a claw.

What: Morrison Crab Carnival
When: All week until 16 April
Where: The Morrison Bar & Oyster Room, 225 George Street, Sydney
Cost: Free

Luna Park Rooftop Cinema

Although the temperature is slowly but surely dropping in prep for winter, our outdoor activities do not have to end. Luna Park is hosting a rooftop cinema throughout the month of April, complete with $5 blankets to hire and delicious movie snack favourites on offer. Unlike your ordinary outdoor cinema, wireless noise cancelling headphones will allow you to drown out the Wild Mouse rollercoaster below. Featuring some of the biggest flicks of 2017 as well as unbeatable classics, kick back under the stars with the sensational Sydney Harbour as your backdrop. This weeks movies include Mad Max, Sing, The Notebook and Logan, book your tickets here.
