Are you waking up feeling a little cheerier than usual? Swapping those pants for shorts and saying goodbye to fake tan? Well, two out of three isn’t bad we guess. Yep, that’s right people, summer is OFFICIALLY here and we’ve got the perfect list of things to do to welcome in the silly season. Get on it STAT.
With a summer drinks menu, open mic comedy and even free outdoor yoga by the beach beach—this week is coming in hot (and we don’t just mean the weather). Here is everything worth doing in Sydney this week.
The Dolphin Summer Drinks
Cure that #SULA with an ice-cold summer-themed cocktail at the Dolphin Hotel in Surry Hills this week—they’ve really outdone themselves this time. With a new range of premium house spirits mixed with bottled Australian mixers, fresh fruit and strictly no post-mix, this menu is legit. Basically get there ASAP and your hot little head will thank us later.

A Plastic Ocean Screening
With the holiday season fast approaching and sneaky chocolate wrappers scattered all over the apartment #oops, Films For Change is here to remind us of the importance of minimising our waste. They’ll be screening their newest adventure documentary (A Plastic Ocean) showcasing never-before-seen images of marine life, plastic pollution and its impact—this stuff is important but we know you already knew that. Best part? It’s free AND there’s guilt-free, wrapper-free chocolate taste testing to help you rid your guilty conscience.

If the mid-week blues are really getting you down—sit back, relax and laugh along at Sweeneys Comedy. Pair your comedy-filled night with some delish drinks and even more delish chicken wings. Did we mention they’re only 50 cents? Oops, well now you have no excuse to stay home this coming Tuesday (don’t worry Netflix won’t forget where you’re up to in Riverdale).

Free Yoga At Coogee Beach
Cure your hump day blues by kicking off your Wednesday with an early morning yoga session at Sydney’s gorgeous Coogee Beach. Get down there at 6am sharp for a zen AF morning set against Dolphin’s Point’s spectacular views. For the more experienced yogis, what you need to know is that the class focuses on the balancing effects of Vinyasa. For the, let’s say, less experienced of yogis this class suits you too. It’lll be fun, promise.

Lights Of Christmas
Who said it’s too early to celebrate Christmas? No one, that’s who. The Lights of Christmas is back at St Mary’s Cathedral and it’ll kick off every night with a choir performance at 7:30pm for that old school Christmas vibe. Then it’ll transition into a LIT light and sound show starting at 8.30pm. FYI there’s also food involved so don’t go full Grinch mode because there’s Christmas themed churros, white chocolate mint and red velvet milkshakes to keep the kiddies happy, and coffee (thank god) for the adults. Definitely add this one to your Christmas wish list.
When: Opening night Wednesday 6 December from 7:30pm (running throughout December)
