Iconic Brisbane venue Powerhouse was hit super hard by the coronavirus restrictions, not only as a purveyor of the arts and entertainment, but also as a cultural precinct that was a meeting place for so many locals and travellers. Now that things are looking up (restriction wise), the Brisbane Powerhouse is coming back for a series of intimate performances that will make you remember what life was like pre-lockdown.
Lights On at Brisbane Powerhouse is all of the fun of live performances brought to you on a reimagined, smaller scale venue. For the lucky 100 theatre-goers, Lights On will feature bespoke shows and performances from artistic companies like Circa, Queensland Ballet and Club Briefs. Not only is Lights On a way for the Powerhouse to return, but the event shines a light on local talent, and the intimate gathering size helps to create the mood of wonder and awe.
If circus is to your taste, then let Circa wow you with their individual and duo circus teams, all set to eclectic music, and live cello from a member of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Or dive into cabaret with Club Briefs, the trash glamour disco circus full of dancing, variety and burlesque. And if that isn’t enough, Queensland Ballet’s 60 Dancers: 60 Stories, which explores the theme of love, is sure to get your heart racing. You can even add on a share platter and some bubbles to nibble and sip on while you take it all in
Set to go on show from Friday 24 July to Saturday 8 August, Lights On is the return theatre and entertainment lovers have been waiting for. Find out more and book your tickets here.
