It’s been a long hiatus from Brisbane’s beloved doughnut empire, Doughnut Time following their liquidation back in March 2018. It was a sticky situation that saw 23 stores close (and discrepancies in salary backpay) and it's no secret the previous owners expanded too quickly and mistakes were made.
But, with brand new owners, a new team and a new business ethos Doughnut Time is back. Under totally new ownership Doughnut Time 2:0 is one of the most highly anticipated openings this year—and we’re thrilled to see them return.
To celebrate their Queen St Mall launch, Doughnut Time will be handing out free doughnuts to the first 2,500 people who turn up to their new digs today.
You’ll be reunited with old-school favourites like OG, Slim Shady, Love At First Bite, Veruca Salt, and It’s Always A Gay Time. And what would a relaunch be without something new to sink your teeth into? Meet your soon-to-be latest obsessions, Hollaback Girl, My Little Doughny and Ya-Ya Baklava. It’s a firm yes from us.
The rebooted menu also boasts lighter (and somewhat guilt-free) vegan, low sugar, high protein and gluten-free options.
If free doughnuts are your thing (they’re definitely ours), get down to Queen Street at 11am and sink your teeth into an OG. Actually, just plug our veins with it.
New independent owner, Pete Andres says of the revamp, “It’s as simple as wanting to bring back a good quality product that Aussies genuinely miss. Doughnut Time was once a local success story and we’re beyond excited to bring it back.”
All we can say is, thank you, Pete.
Two new locations open their doors in The Myer Centre and South Bank today, and will be followed closely by Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast on December 1, and Coomera before the New Year.
We love a good comeback story.
