With winter upon us, the appeal of beers and picnics by the beach has lessened and all we really want to do is wrap ourselves in a blanket and not leave the couch for the next three months. But alas, the urge for coffee is strong. Luckily, there are plenty of Perth cafes with fireplaces, blankies, cosy couches and delicious warm drinks, so take off your ugg boots, put on some real shoes and go and get caffeinated.
Here are a few of the best Perth cafes to keep warm at this winter.
City Farm Cafe
Tucked inside the grounds of Perth's only urban farm, the friendly team at City Farm Cafe are handing out snuggly blankets to go with their amazing hot drinks and drool-worthy breakfasts. Oh, and the croque monsieur is cheesilicious!
For cosy winter cafes, it doesn’t get much better than Boucla. With homely Middle Eastern inspired interiors, incredible homemade food and great coffee, this quaint cafe is the ideal place to enjoy breakfast, lunch or a big slice of cake while it’s cold outside.
While we don’t tend to head to the beach as often during the winter, Il Lido at least provides us with a view of the Indian Ocean to tide us over until spring. Passionate purveyors of good wine, cheese and Italian food, their coffee and breakfasts are just as good as their lunch and dinner menu. So no matter what time of day, head to Il Lido for some cosy good times.
Flora & Fauna
Providing blankets and warm cups of Micrology coffee, fine teas and epic hot chocolates, the team at Flora & Fauna keep the people of Northbridge cosy during the winter months. And with an all day brunch menu, there’s no need to get out of bed early on a cold morning either.
Greens & Co
While this old haunt has become famous for selling a good cup of coffee late into the evening, its most notable offering is their huge selection of cakes. With a large indoor space, plenty of areas to lounge, pool tables, board games and a retro arcade, there’s plenty to occupy you at Greens & Co when the rains are in—making for the perfect pit-stop, before or after a film at the Luna.
Moore & Moore
A firm Fremantle favourite for years now, Moore & Moore’s large space with an art gallery, live jazz music on weekends and a fireplace as well as cosy couches to chill on all make for a warm and cosy hangout, even in their courtyard, which is kept covered and heated during winter.
With some of the best coffee on offer in Fremantle, amazing homemade food, warm red brick interiors, comfy couches and a cosy attic upstairs—The Attic is the ultimate space to hang out in when it’s a little frosty out.
Open any time of day, Little Way has fast become a favourite spot for Nedlands Locals, with reliably good coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner. With an abundance of warm nooks to chill inside and a heated outdoor area, it’s an excellent spot for a winter feed.
This stylish neighbourhood cafe on George Street is home to an indulgent comforting brekky menu, from the scrambled eggs sloppy joe on a brioche bun with onions, cheddar and spicy aioli, or their French toast with apple pie filling, crème fraiche, candy spiced peanuts and maple sauce for the sweet tooths among us, Young George does it all.
Panda & Co
Serving up the best proudly inauthentic Asian comfort food that money can buy—from the breakfast bao with bacon, egg and mizuna or Ruben rolly pollies (a Rueben sandwich spring roll)—Panda & Co’s creative menu is perfect to indulge in during the cooler months.
The Little Stove
Bicton’s favourite neighbourhood pit-stop for a good coffee, exotic loose leaf teas, homemade cakes and a solid breakfast is just as good in winter as it is in Perth. Passionate about hospitality, The Little Stove crew will make sure you're nice and warm with a crochet blanket if you choose to sit out in the elements.
