Margaret River Gourmet Escape is hitting the south west in November this year and if you weren’t already planning on heading down you might want to rethink your decision—it was only named the best tourism event at the Australian Tourism Awards and included in the Lonely Planet’s new international Food Trails guide last year. No biggie.
The heart of the event—Gourmet Village—will be pumping as always for the four-day foodie extravaganza (yep, they’ve added an extra day because it’s just that good) with a couple of new additions this year, including a giniversity (our favourite kind of school) and the Lurpak cookery school. Matt Okine will be hosting the main stage so you can expect some funnies in between the live music, plus there’s a secret closing act for the Sunday which you’d better get excited about.
All your favourite events like the Gourmet Beach BBQ, Sunset Beach and Bites and the Feast in the Forest will all be back this year, with a few new additions that we’re pretty excited about, most notably, The High Life. What is The High Life you ask? Only the first culinary tour by helicopter to hit Gourmet Escape. Jump aboard the helicopter at Watershed Wines, take in the stunning scenery and then get dropped off at a top secret location to join Paul Iskov of Fervor for a lunch made entirely from local ingredients.
