Forget about hash browns, if you’re serious about brunch (and if you’re not, shame on you) then a potato rosti should be your top order. It’s crispy, versatile and forkin’ delicious—the ultimate addition to any plate of breakfast goodness.
That's why we've rounded up Perth's best potato rostis for you to enjoy.
The Old Laundry
We wish we could start every day with this breakfast. The potato rosti at The Old Laundry is topped with spinach, perfectly poached eggs, gin cured trout (trust us, it’s amazing even with a hangover) and hollandaise. Find a sunny spot in the courtyard and you’ll be set for the morning. The breakfast burger is also phenomenal—make your mate order one so you can steal a big bite.
You can’t beet (bear with us for a second) this for a satisfying brekky—the house made rosti comes with poached eggs, avocado crème, beetroot remoulade, truffle oil and beetroot liquer (there is its). You can choose between pan-fried mushrooms and smoked salmon. The good people at La Veen also know how to make a great coffee, so be sure to get your caffeine fix.
Guaranteed to cure even the most killer hangovers, the brekky burger at Hylin is legendary. Two poached eggs, smoked bacon, avocado mash & the all important potato rosti are served on an open organic loafers pretzel bun. It may be big, but you will gladly finish every last bite.
It’s no secret that Sayers Sister serves up a killer brunch and their potato rosti is no exception. It’s packed full of flavour with bramley apple and thyme churtney as well as poached eggs, spinach, bacon, seeded mustard dressing and rocket leaf. If you can’t handle breakfast without bacon, then head over to Sayers in Leederville for a rosti with onion jam, poached egg, bacon and lemon scented wilted spinach.
Shadow Wine Bar
Tasty fact—this fine dining restaurant in Northbridge serves up brunch on the weekend. Their potato rosti is simple but delicious, served up with good old bacon and eggs. Celebrate the weekend and wash it down with a Bloody Mary or grapefruit mimosa.
Potato, potartoe—this dish isn’t quite a rosti, but it’s pretty damn close. This South Perth gem serves up potato hotcakes with poached eggs, oak smoked salmon, avocado salsa and hollandaise.
The Little Banksia
You’ll be able to skip lunch and dinner after this serious feed. The Banksia breakfast comes with a bubble & squeak rosti, as well as crisp belly bacon, baked field mushrooms, roast tomato, spiced chorizo baked beans, a poached egg and sourdough toast. Without a doubt, it’s worth the food baby.
Port City Roasters
Your taste buds will feel like they’re on hollandaise with this one (sorry, couldn’t resist). The herb and potato rosti at Port City Roasters comes with smoked leg ham and poached eggs. The coffee beans are roasted daily on site, so make sure you order a big mug.
Betty and Dave’s
This rosti at Betty and Dave's is made with sweet potato, so it’s 100% healthy right? It comes with chargrilled bacon, poached eggs, shaved asparagus and rocket salad with coconut yoghurt.
City Farm Cafe
The cafe inside Perth’s only urban farm serves up a mean potato rosti. With Tasmanian smoked salmon, poached eggs and house made hollandaise it’s a winner. Go on a Saturday morning and peruse the farmers markets for some fresh fruit and veg.
