Turmeric is having a moment in Perth. Apparently this golden spice is really really good for you and there are people saying it can be used to treat anything from arthritis to Alzheimer’s. I’ve got no idea if any of that is true, but when I was given a sample size turmeric latte which was pretty tasty I decided to jump straight on this bandwagon.
But it’s not just turmeric lattes that are popping up all over Perth, we’ve also got turmeric chia puddings, turmeric tonics and even turmeric and avo dressing!
Here are 16 places in Perth dishing up the best turmeric dishes.
Pearth Organic Kitchen
Pearth Organic Kitchen in West Leederville was one of the first to jump on the golden milk bandwagon. A mix of turmeric, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon and honey served over creamy delicious coconut milk, this will warm you right up!
Karibu Cafe in Subiaco is well and truly on the turmeric train. They do turmeric lattes as well as lemon turmeric fatbombs. What the what? Fatbombs are little treats which are high in healthy fats and low in carbs and sugar. Karibu also sell coconut turmeric wraps so you take that yellow goodness home with you.
Nature’s Harvest is a turmeric lovers haven. They are pros at turmeric lattes—both hot and iced—but the turmeric tonic is what will really get your attention. A juice made with the turmeric latte mix (which is also available to buy) and carrots, apple, lemon, ginger and mint, this bad boy will kick your cold in no time! They also do a heap of curries packed with turmeric if you’re after lunch!
Myrtle Ivy do a turmeric chai latte which is pretty delish and the perfect gateway drink if you’re not too sure about the whole turmeric thing and want to start slowly.
Jujuberry + Co
Turmeric and ginger recovery shot anyone? Yep it’s a tiny little shot full of nutrients and will get you going like you won’t believe. The guys at Jujuberry + Co are also pretty partial to a turmeric and pumpkin soup if you go on the right day and of course do the good old turmeric lattes which they make using their own turmeric latte blend.
NOOD make a crazy yummy turmeric latte and if you have a look in the fridge at the ready made meals or the soups you’ll often find something with a hit of turmeric. If you fancy yourself a cook, hit up the NOOD website for a heap of recipes packed with the good stuff!
Pixel Coffee Brewers
Pixel have got not one but two brunch dishes full of this golden spice! The golden chia pudding is a delightful mix of turmeric, ginger and coconut chia topped with Pixel’s granola and turmeric bark, while the autumn mushrooms sit on top of a deliciously cheesy turmeric sauce.
The Juicist’s M3 nut mylk is full of turmeric, almonds, dates, cinnamon and pepper for just the right amount of kick.
The good people over Pressed Daily chuck a healthy dose of turmeric in their immunity juice, which is the perfect thing when you feel that scratchy throat kicking in.
Bowl’n do a smoothie bowl called the Frosty Boy which will bring back all sorts of childhood memories filled with delicious frosty fruits. Their smoothie bowl is a little lighter on the sugar and packed with the goods like turmeric, ginger and lemon so you can feel good and nostalgic all at the same time.
Long Chim is a spice haven so I knew I could count on them for a good quality turmeric dish and of course, they don’t disappoint. The beef skewers with turmeric, coriander and cumin are the bomb and the dtom yam of snapper—soup jam packed with turmeric, lemongrass, lime and chilli—is out of this world.
Dunn & Walton
Dunn & Walton whip up a turmeric and ginger latte made with their house-made almond milk and flavoured with nutmeg and honey. It’s 100% delish and will make you feel healthy from the inside out.
Nasi Lemak Korner
If you really love turmeric you can get it in on your rice at Nasi Lemak Korner. Nasi Kuning is about 100 times tastier than boring old Jasmine rice and it goes perfectly with all of the amazing dishes at this Como gem.
The Kinky Lizard Espresso Bar
Dukkah poached eggs with kale and grilled haloumi on rye sourdough served with avocado and turmeric dressing. If you don’t think this dish from The Kinky Lizard sounds amazing then we can’t be friends.
The Raw Kitchen
No surprises that The Raw Kitchen in Fremantle is whipping out some amazing coconut milk turmeric lattes along with all the other healthy goodness they do here!
The Little Concept
The Little Concept is doing all sorts of wonderful things with turmeric from turmeric patties to turmeric spiced bircher muesli and of course, turmeric lattes. Everything here is deliciously healthy and you will love it!
