Thursday 4th June

Young Henry’s Roadhouse at Goodgod Small Club

Start your weekend off the right way when Young Henry’s brewery teams up with Goodgod Small Club to give you a night full of beer and tunes. This Thursday features Twin Beats playing the tunes as Bottled Lightning Co. feeds you the good stuff. Not only will there be Belly Bao’s delicious baoger, but the first 100 of you keen beans will get a brew on the house. Tix are $15 and you can grab them online.

Purple Sneakers at Newtown Hotel pop up

The ever-popular Newtown Hotel is coming to Vivid this year—which gives you all the more reason to make your way to Central Park and catch a glimpse of the pretty lights. Known for hosting some of the best parties in Sydney, Purple Sneakers will bring you the perfect start to the long weekend with a range of eclectic music and delicious drinks.

Parlour X end of season sale

We love a good sale, and the end of season sale at Parlour X in Five Ways, Paddington is going to be a good one. With up to 75% off luxury brands including Isabel Marant, Saint Laurent, Celine and Stella McCartney, stock up on all the good stuff at discounted prices before they move to their new store in St Johns church later this year.

Friday 5th June

Great Dane homeware and furniture sale

The crafting geniuses at Great Dane Furniture have created an array of modern furniture designed to make your home pop. Now you can thank them even more because they are hosting a two-week sale so you can grab their gorgeous furniture and lighting at 20% off! The sale is in store and online, so even the laziest of you can indulge in the bargain.

Vivid @ The Gantry

If nothing and no one has convinced you to go to Vivid this year, maybe The Gantry can entice you (we knew food would win you over). They’re holding a BBQ on the pier with cocktails, beer and live entertainment to accompany. The whole thing will be totally Instagram worthy and luckily for you, the team at The Gantry have set up a selfie station on the pier equipped with props to make sure you get optimum likes. Note: try the Vivid inspired cocktails while you’re there, the Papa Smurf (Reposado Tequila mixed with Mr Blue Curacao and fresh lime juice) sounds delicious!

Saturday 6th June

Vinyl pop-up shop

If you’ve grown up with a vinyl lovin’ dad, or like to treat yourself to some record listening occasionally, then listen up! Blank Space in Surry Hills will be home to a vinyl pop-up shop on Saturday, with over 70 crates of records to sell. Take your pick of rock, metal, blues or jazz and go for a walk (or listen) down memory lane.

Colour Run Night

We’re colour-lovers here at The Urban List, but no one can love colour as much as the Colour Run. If you aren’t up to date on your fun exercise events, the Colour Run (aka the Happiest 5k on the Planet) requires you to run/walk/skip/dance 5km around Sydney’s CBD and get colour splattered on you along the way. For more excitement, get involved in the Colour Run Night and instead of boring old colour, you’ll get doused in glowing powder. See you there, we’ll be the ones dancing in rainbows.

'Portopeli Market' in Double Bay

If you’re looking for things to do in Sydney that involve a bit of shopping, then head to the first ever Portopeli Market at Pelicano this weekend. This monthly market sees Sydney bar, Pelicano, transform into a marketplace with the hottest bloggers, stylists, designers and fashion identities selling their new and pre-loved items. Delicious food and bloody marys will be available, making this a delicious and fashionable way to spend your Saturday. For more information, visit their website.

Sunday 7th June

Sunday Long-Day at The Collaroy

Our favourite thing about long weekends is that Sunday means it’s just getting started. That’s certainly the way The Collaroy sees it too, who are hosting the ultimate Sunday Sesh on the Northern Beaches. They’ve rounded up nationally famed DJs to create the perfect vibe for the perfect long day. You can get a general ticket for $20, or be a VIP for the day and get a five-hour beverage pack and canapés for $150.

Glenfiddich Pop up at The Lord Dudley

The Lord Dudley Hotel in Paddington is celebrating with whisky this weekend, and we’re more than happy to join them. They’re part of Glenfiddich’s ‘Extended Family’ campaign and are holding a speciality tasting of ‘Glenfiddich the original’ to commemorate the brand’s innovation and the launch of the iconic whisky that started it all. The pop up bar is open 12pm – 6pm with tastings every hour for established guests of the Lord Dudley and whisky lovers alike.

Manic Sunday @ Soda Factory

Channel your inner 80s rocker and head to Soda Factory this Sunday. You’ll be dancing the night away to the sound of Prince, Guns n Roses and Queen as US DJ Ca$h Money makes an exclusive one night appearance. It’s the long weekend, so you’ve got the perfect excuse for partying on a Sunday night.

Monday 8th June

Magic Mondays at Red Lantern

No magic show is complete without food in our books, and Red Lantern has certainly picked up on this. Join them every Monday and watch the tricks of Sydney magician Trace of Magic as you delve into delicious Vietnamese food. Did we mention that you’ll receive a complimentary dish of chilli-salted squid with each booking? That’s enough reason in itself to go and finish off the long weekend feeling a little bit magical.

Meet The Filmmaker – Brendan Cowell

Esteemed theatre, film and television actor Brendan Cowell has directed his first feature film, and Sydney Film Festival wants you to join in celebrating. If you’re a film fanatic (and even if you’re not), come and hear him discuss the new film at the Apple Store on Monday night after its premiere screening on the opening night. The talk starts at 4pm and you can reserve a free spot online.

Tuesday 9th June

Gin Lovers dinner at Intercontinental

In the lead up to World Gin Day on June 13th, The Intercontinental is hosting their first ever Gin Lovers dinner commemorating the fine spirit. The dining experience will take guests on a gin-infused culinary journey, from canapés of juniper-cured salmon with a gin fizz cocktail to a main of venison loin with celeriac cream and finishing with a negroni and Four Pillars Orange Marmalade. After dinner, if you’re still up for it, enjoy a tasting of the third release of Four Pillars Barrel Aged Solera No. 3 by the warm fireplace. Dinner is $160 per person and you can book online.
