The beauty and brains behind the subterranean funk at Brooklyn Standard are slowly taking over the rest of Eagle Lane with their latest venture, Fat Angel Sports Bar & Grill. Where Brooklyn deals in funk and blues, their above-ground counterpart will instead be blasting live sport direct from the US, midday to midnight from Monday to Saturday.
Taking over the spot where Coyotito used to be, Fat Angel will be Brisbane’s first ever American sports bar, boasting eight massive screens as your home of basketball (NBA), football (NFL), profuse bleeding (UFC), excessive shoving (ice hockey), and the official college pastime of former president George W Bush: high-kicks and human pyramids (cheerleading).
Even if you don’t like sports, you have to admit this is pretty cool.
Now we’ve covered the sports bar component, what about that grill section? In keeping with their theme, Fat Angel will offer your classic sports-bar snackery like wings, burgers, cheesesteaks, and popcorn shrimp, that’s almost guaranteed to get you into the competitive spirit and also end up all over your fashion jersey. On drinks, Fat Angel’s bar will be kitted out with four American beers on tap and, if Brooklyn’s anything to go by, a whole raft of other cracking bevvies.
This bad boy is expected to open mid-March, so keep an eye on Fat Angel and Brooklyn’s social pages for precise dates and we’ll see you there, kids.
