The humble olive: good on a pizza, delightful in pasta, and just straight up great sloshing around a martini—is there a more diverse fruit (technically it is in fact, a fruit) going? Don’t even get us started on wine and cheese. Paired together, they are LIFE.
Because we’re clearly not the only ones that think that olives, cheese and wine are pretty damn great (not to mention our preferred weekend foodie fodder), there’s a whole festival coming dedicated to just this!
This Sunday take a drive out to the countryside—beautiful Pine Mountain just outside Ipswich to be precise—where the Watercress Creek Olive Festival will be kicking off celebrating, eating and learning about all things olives.
Spend the day at the stunning Watercress Creek Farm, where throughout the day you’ll have ample opportunity to devour local gourmet cheese and wine from the surrounding regions (this is wine country, folks), plus ALL of the olives grown and harvested on Watercress Creek Farm.
Take your feast and your vino to the lawn and chill out under the trees, listening to live music and maybe even tucking into a gourmet burger or two.
There will be a whole host of stalls selling their wares, from local artists showcasing hand crafted items made from olive wood, to original paintings, plus meet the makers and try local olive oils, pickled olives—you name it, it’s there.
There’s many ways to spend a Sunday afternoon, but we’re not kidding, this might just take the cake. See you there!
