Brisbane’s Best Blow Dry

By Desta Cullen - 31 Jan 2014

Here at the Urban List, we like to focus on the important things in life, like how shiny our hair is, and where we can find Brisbane's best blow dry.

Because we are also in the business of keeping you looking hot, we went in search of local hairdressers who are doing Brisbane's blow dries right.

Luckily for us, Luke Reynolds, owner of the aptly named Luke Reynolds Hairdressing, knows a thing or two about the ol' tress taming trade, and most importantly, one of our favourite treatments—the blow dry.

With more than 14 years in the industry and some serious cred (he's the winner of a heap of awards, check them out right here), there's a reason Luke's loyal clients—a list that includes Brisbane's most high-flying ladies—keep coming back for all their hair needs and have nominated Luke's salon as one of Brisbane's best blow dries.

We caught up with Luke to find out his secrets and tips for keeping your blow dry looking top notch, no matter what!

"Nothing beats a blow dry to make you feel on top of the world, and there's a technique to suit every hair length and style," says Luke.

Luke's longer-haired clients rave about his signature bouncy blow dry. This sexy but sophisticated do—the salon's most-requested—will leave you with such voluptuous hair stylings even our favourite hottie, shiny haired inspos, the Victoria's Secret Angels, will be after your secrets.

Tip: This style is excellent for those with quite thick hair, and the perfect accessory for any outfit or occasion.

For those preferring the straight and sleek look, this blow dry can smooth out your locks while providing lift at the roots to keep your hair from looking lifeless. [Think Gwyneth Paltrow's and Mila Kunis' red carpet looks.]

If your hair is short, a little bit flat, and lacking texture, then this is the blow dry for you. Luke and his team will beat that flatness by giving your hair some much needed volume and texture and blow some serious life into it.

The curly girls can maximize (and even control) their waves with a blow dry that uses a diffusing tool to add volume and smooth out any frizz.

Luke's Blow Dry Preservation Tips

Tip 1: Sleeping on a silk pillowcase will help to stop your hair looking frizzy or flat. In the few days after your blow dry, a little bit of KMS Makeover Spray will keep your hair looking fresh and clean.

Tip 2: This is important: never underestimate the power of a shower cap to stop moisture ruining your do!

Luke and his team obviously know their stuff about blow drying, but they are also hair mavericks when it comes to style cuts, gorgeous colouring, and hair styling. Their full service salon in New Farm will leave you and your tresses transformed after any pampering session. Life's just too short for bad hair.
