There’s really no beating a delicious serve of smashed avocado on toast for breakfast, it’s one of those quintessentially Australian treats that we probably take for granted. While there’s no shortage of great avo-on-toast breakfasts in Brisbane, you can’t really afford to waste your time on average feeds. You need to know where to find the best! To help you make a beeline for the best, we’ve put together this list of Brisbane’s best smashed avo hotspots. Feast on, friends!

Lucky Duck Café & Bar

Highgate Hill

For a big serving of avocado goodness and great coffee, head down to Lucky Duck Café & Bar at Highgate Hill for their aptly named Avolanche Toast. A big ol’ serving of smashed avo, heaped high on thick-cut organic sourdough and served with lemon, basil and garlic olive oil.

Deedot Coffee House

Holland Park

The guys at Deedot Coffee House in Holland Park know wassup! They do one heck of an avo on toast, loading up two thick pieces of sourdough with smashed avocado, serving it with dukkah, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. You can also add Persian feta or two poached eggs for that little something extra. So good.

Plum Tucker

Red Hill

Situated in Red Hill, the team at Plum Tucker have your avo needs covered with not one, but three awesome avo options. These include ‘The Pioneer’, served with pumpkin and rosemary, grilled haloumi, cos lettuce, toasted almonds and caramelized balsamic on toasted sourdough and ‘The Celebrity,’ served with fresh strawberries, honey ricotta and crushed pistachios on toasted sourdough.

Southside Tea Room

Morningside

The super cool Southside Tea Room at Morningside serves up amazing coffee and a mighty fine smashed avo breakfast. They keep things classic, lavishing smashed avo on toast, serving it up with house salsa and fresh lemon. Heavenly!

Sourced Grocer

Teneriffe

The guys at Sourced Grocer in Teneriffe do one heck of a smashed avo, lavishing it on house sourdough and topping it off with perfectly house-smoked labneh, olive oil and citrus. A very subtle twist on the classic that really delivers on flavour.

Scout Café

Petrie Terrace

If you find yourself near Petrie Terrace with a serious smashed avo craving then you should head directly to Scout Café. Here you’ll find smashed avo served on panè with feta, herbs, olive oil and fresh lemon. Got a big hunger? Add a fried egg, pork and maple sausage, mushrooms or Kaiserfleisch to your avocado feast.

Corner Store Café

Toowong

Based in Toowong, you’ll find the Corner Store Café serving up smashed avocado two ways. You can have your avo served on sourdough with either spiced roast almonds, feta and lemon OR with haloumi, greek salsa and oregano. We’re sure you’ll agree, it’s a win-win situation.

Hops Scotch & Beans

Petrie Terrace

More avocado? More Petrie Terrace? Alright, you guys. Take a trip to Hops Scotch & Beans for their heavenly smashed avocado served with beetroot ricotta, sesame tuile and grilled lemon served on rye with ashed salt. It’s not just avo on toast, it’s very fancy avo on toast.

My Mistress

Clayfield

You guys outta know right from the get-go that My Mistress makes an amazing smashed avo. The appropriately named ‘Rendezvous’ consists of smashed avocado on sourdough with feta, olive oil, fresh basil and lemon. Simple, delicious and oh-so-satisfying.
