Do Some Good, These Brisbane Venues Are Dishing Up Freebies For Healthcare Workers

We are living in challenging and uncertain times at the moment, with many of our favourite foodie haunts closing shop for now. One thing that is for certain though is that our frontline emergency staff are doing everything they can to keep us safe during the pandemic. While we’re binge watching Netflix and fighting over loo paper in Woolies, spare a thought for our local nurses, doctors, emergency services and hospital staff who are working around the clock, with limited breaks and plenty of sweat underneath all that protective gear.

Here are some venues who’ve decided to say a little thanks to our healthcare heroes with some discounts and freebies (but remember, the ultimate way to say thanks is to make their jobs easier—prevent the spread and stay at home).

A clever initiative to keep their staff employed and help those on the frontline, BillyKart are delivering free healthy freshly cooked meals to local hospitals, emergency services and supermarket workers through the help of their gofundme page.

Miss Bliss

West End

Delivering foods like soup, risotto and lasagna to society’s most vulnerable—healthcare workers and the elderly—Miss Bliss is doing its part to keep the community healthy and looked after through their pay-it-forward scheme, which you can donate to via their website.

Brisbane CBD

Still delivering their delicious eats to customers Brisbane-wide, Botero are also taking nominations for local hospitals, medical centres, frontline institutions or stood down workers to get a free meal. Place an order with them, nominate someone who could really use a good meal, and Botero will take care of the rest. Find out how to nominate someone here.

Il Verde

Bowen Hills

Il Verde in King Street, as well as their sister venue Il Gancio in Toombul, are offering 50% off the bill for medical staff during the pandemic. ‘Thank you’ in the form of pizza and pasta? Bravissimo!

Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers

South Bank And Paddington

As part of their Health Heroes offer, Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers are dishing up $10 gnocchi for healthcare workers, with no limit on purchase quantities. Simply flash your work ID and enjoy a delicious meal at a discounted price, as a way to say thanks.

Banjo’s Bakery

Cleveland, Redcliffe And Darra

The teams at Banjo’s Cleveland, Redcliffe and Darra are currently offering 50% off for frontline health care professionals and emergency services who are working to help protect our community from COVID-19. The special offer is available for frontline workers who are either in their uniform or present a pre-approved health care or emergency services current photo ID.

Feed The Front Line

As healthcare staff work around the clock to keep us safe, Brisbane’s restaurants have banded together to create Feed The Front Line, a gofundme initiative through which you can donate to participating restaurants, who will then generate food gift vouchers for workers in Brisbane hospitals.
