Kickstart Christmas at The Barracks

It's November already. When did that happen? We don't want to alarm anyone, but there are officially only 49 days until Christmas! Hold the panic though, because the lead up to this merry time of year means you are in for a lot of Christmas parties. Yipee!

Work, friends, family. They all want a piece of the yuletide action. But where to go is always that last niggling detail. It pays to be armed with hot tips because everything fills up so fast at this time of year, and you definitely don't want to end up at the local pub playing bingo on a Tuesday night (that's another kind of party).

Because the fine establishments up at The Barracks know a thing or two about hosting parties (and catering them), we've come up with a list of the best locales to try for an intimate, Christmas catch up with style.

The Chelsea

It's a little unconventional, but we are going to go out on a limb and suggest a Christmas lunch party. With three spaces for groups—The Dining Room, Barracks Lane and The Courtyard—The Chelsea is a gorgeous location for a long, champagne-fueled lunch to celebrate the impending sleigh bells.

Libertine is already there when it comes to Christmas atmosphere. A great tipple selection, an opulent but relaxed setting with red and gold splashed throughout, and a convivial vibe. Add to that, decadent Vietnamese-French dishes like slow-roasted duck with cherry confiture and brioche crumbs, and you will be well on your way to festive cheer. (Note: Cherries are a very festive fruit.)

If you regularly follow us here at TUL you'll know we are big fans of Peasant. Christmas is made for sharing, and Peasant's perfecto Spanish tapas-style suits a casual get together, for any group size. There's even a brand new, private dining area opening just in time for the festive season. A huge wine list, and hugely knowledgeable staff are an added bonus.

Cabiria's dark, bohemian atmosphere will be the perfect setting for an intimate catch up with close friends (it helps if they have a predilection for good wine and philosophical musings). Nibble on the charcuterie, imbibe red wine, and reminisce on the year that was. It's the French take on 'Eat, Drink, and Be Merry', and we like it.
