New year, new market calendar. 2014 is the year of the market, we think, so get amongst it with this great list.

Jan Power's Farmers Market

Can anyone compete with Jan Power's market might? Five uber popular sites with a plethora of amazing offerings. Pick up some goodies like bread, flowers, meats, fish and poultry while savouring the great atmosphere.

Eat Street Markets
Harnessing the hipness-factor inherent in all things shipping container, the Eat Street Markets are pumping out some delicious fare from Hamilton Wharf. Emulating the not-so-controlled chaos of South East Asia, they run every Friday and Saturday night featuring good food, cheap prices, and a casual atmosphere.

Where: Macarthur Avenue, Hamilton

Davies Park Market (West End Market)
West End's stalwart markets are almost an international attraction. Fresh produce, scrummy breakfasts, and some excellent people (and dog) watching make this an unmissable experience.

When: Every Saturday 6:00am - 2:00pm

Suitcase Rummage
Rummaging is all the rage these days and this well-organised and quirky market is the just right to hone your vintage gem un-covering skills.  

Where: Reddacliff Place | Queen Street in Brisbane CBD
When: First and third Sunday of every month 12pm-5pm

Brisbane Flower Market
Stomping ground of more than just your in-the-know florist, Brisbane Flower Market is the perfect place for seasonal, affordable and good quality blooms from local and international gowers. Our tip: head in early to get your pick of the bunch (pun winning!).

When: Monday - Friday 5:00am - 3:00pm, Saturday 6:00am - 1:00pm

Kelvin Grove Village Markets
KGVM is a solid uni student fave, and they should be on your list too. All the usuals, plus some TUL faves (Banneton, Roost to name a couple).

Brisbane Valley Markets

An oldie, but definitely a goodie, the Brisbane Valley Markets are close to institution status. Everything from unique jewellery, vinyl and clothing will set you up nicely for the weekend. 

Where: Chinatown and Brunswick Street Malls | Fortitude Valley
When: Every Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm, Every Sunday 9:00am - 4:00pm

Eagle Farm Markets
All the usual culprits make this one of Brisbane's best and most popular markets. Anyplace that sells the freshest fruit and veg right next to a lovely selection of jewellery and fashion is a-okay with us, too. 

Where: Eagle Farm Racecourse | Lancaster Road in Ascot
When: Every Sunday 7:00am - 12:30pm

Moggill Markets
Think fruit, veg, and an amazing range of local meats sold direct to the public by the very people who grow and make it all. Explore the brimming stalls and grab yourself some super fresh food for the week. 

Where: Brookfield State School | Boscombe Road in Brookfield
When: First and third Saturday of every month 6:30am - 11:00am

Northey Street City Farm Organic Market
Calling all early birds! This market is a must-do for all things organic. Fresh fruit and veg, a community garden and nice, lush and cool setting make it a perfect breakfast spot for the hot summer months. Get in before 10:30am every Sunday.

Boggo Road Markets
Every Southsider worth their salt is flocking to the Boggo Road offering on Sunday mornings. Whatever (well, mostly) you are looking for is catered for, and things are definitely on an upward swing now that the holidays are over (boo!). Grab fresh produce, clothing, pre-prepared meals, flowers, garden supplies, as well as all kinds of knick-knacks.

When: Every Sunday 7:00am - 1:00pm

Young Designers Market
Featuring up and coming young designers with serious creative chops, the Young Designers Markets are where it's at for discovering unique gems at reasonable prices. Held on the first Sunday of every month. Pretty much every category is represented, with women's fashion pieces, art, unique homewares, kids designs and furniture at every market.

Where: Little Stanley Street | South Bank
When: First Sunday of every month 10:00am - 4:00pm 

Produce By The Pier
Specialty stalls including wine, cheese, gourmet meats, and freshly grown fruit and vegetables plus a trip to the seaside! Where do we sign up?

Where: Broadwater Parklands | Southport
When: Second and fourth Saturday of every month 7:00am – 12:00pm

South Bank Collective Market
Reinvigorated and rearing to go for 2014, South Bank's Collective Market is home to a huge range of art, photography, designer fashion and accessories, homewares, jewellery, pop-up shops, vintage and recycled fashion, and collectables. Your arms will be aching from the haul!

Where: Stanley Street Plaza | South Bank
When: Saturday 10:00am - 9:00pm and Sunday 9:00am - 4:00pm

West End Twilight Markets
Held every second and fourth Sunday of the month, these are the ideal markets to cruise for vintage finds at dusk.

Northside Lifestyle Markets
No need to be suburb-ist (it's a new word, alright). Get to the northside to explore this great market every Sunday. Fresh produce, ready-to-eat food stalls and some fun activities await you.
