Back for another rollicking weekend of wholesome airborne fun, it’s the Redcliffe KiteFest (read: airborne extravaganza). Kicking off tomorrow, Saturday 25 August, the KiteFest packs more fun and excitement into 48 hours than Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte.

Front and centre for the kiting attractions is the USC Kite Flying Arena. If you’re not down with the local kiting community, this is basically the Madison Square Garden of kites, drawing in some of the finest kite-flyers for a world-class kite show from 9am until 4pm every day of the festival. After flying high on all that spectacular craft, novice kiters are welcome to try their hand at getting airborne in the Quest Public Kite Flying Zone.

But KiteFest isn’t just for the kite-flying enthusiasts, in fact it’s more like a multi-faceted festival of culture and entertainment. Expect live entertainment all over the Main Stage during the day, hydro-acrobatics, dart ball, market stalls and a decked-out food court. There will also be a whole bunch of fun stuff going down for the little ones including pony rides, puppet shows, Lego building, carnival rides and some fairy face painting.

Come night time, things get lowkey turnt with some local music acts taking to the stage to blast us into good form, as well as a jetski stunt show, fireworks, a night market and bevvies courtesy of Village Motors Bar & Grill.
